As a lifelong comic book enthusiast with memories of flipping through dusty stacks at local comic shops, the arrival of The Wrong Earth: Dead Ringers #4 is a cause for celebration! Having grown up on the campy charm of the ’60s Batman TV show and the gritty realism of post-Dark Knight Returns comics, this series has always held a special place in my heart.
The long-awaited fourth issue of “The Wrong Earth: Dead Ringers,” starring Ahoy Comics’ flagship series, is hitting stores in a week! Thanks to ComicBook, we have an exclusive sneak peek inside. This miniseries, written by Tom Peyer and illustrated by Jamal Igle, caused quite a stir when it first launched with its tribute covers inspired by hip-hop music. The storyline revolves around Dragonflyman and The Dragonfly, two distinct versions of the same hero from different earths – one reminiscent of the campy 1960’s “Batman” TV show style, while the other embodies the intense “extreme” aesthetic popularized in comics post-“The Dark Knight Returns” boom of the 1990s.
In 2018, Peyer shared that initially they had planned to have two artists illustrate the separate worlds, but later realized it would be a major error. Instead, Jamal has skillfully handled both realms and characters, displaying immense care, creativity, and thoughtfulness, making him a true co-creator of the series. Without Jamal’s contributions, The Wrong Earth would not have been as good or unique as it is now.

You absolutely need this multiverse comic! The carefree life on quirky Earth-Alpha is starting to strain Dragonfly’s mental stability, leading Dragonflyman to search for his counterpart across different dimensions! Currently stranded in rough Earth-Omega, Lady Dragonflyman and Nightsting are prepared to lay everything on the line to prevent a series of attacks across all the Earths. However, they might decide that the Megaverse isn’t worth saving if they grow tired of the struggle (a distinct possibility)!
