After more than a month since the long-term co-host of Today announced her departure from NBC’s morning show, the journalist shared her intentions for how she will utilize her mornings that are no longer filled with waking up at 3 a.m., a routine she had followed nearly every weekday for close to 17 years. This newfound freedom allows her to spend more quality time with her daughters Haley, aged 7, and Hope, aged 5.
Hoda mentioned that she discovered there’s a Soul Cycle class at 5:30 in her town, which she plans to attend. Afterward, she will return home to prepare breakfast for her children and grab a coffee to go in her Yeti. She shared this information with Daryn Carp during an interview at the Making Space wellness event at Miraval Austin Resort and Spa in Texas on October 25, where she also happens to share her kids with Joel Schiffman.
Speaking further, she said, “I plan on taking my children along some lovely streets towards their school and giving them a goodbye smooch.
Apart from catching up with loved ones, the 60-year-old intends to devote extra attention to her podcast titled “Making Space With Hoda Kotb” as well.
Hoda mentioned that she plans to work in her wellness area since there’s a pile of tasks on hand. She’ll be busy for several hours. Additionally, she has arranged a lunch date with friends whom she hasn’t had a proper meal with in ages. It’s going to be some genuine conversations.
After wrapping up some professional engagements and socializing, I always look forward to winding down with my family during our post-work hours, much like a favorite television program on a cozy evening.
She mentioned that she would be taking Haley and Hope wherever they desired, then returning to bring them home later. Additionally, she planned on firing up the grill as she adores anything cooked on a BBQ, specifically preparing burgers and salmon for dinner.
When Hoda concludes her usual duties in January, she’s finding it difficult to mentally adapt to her upcoming routine, which will be quite different from her 20-year stint on morning television.
She confessed she’s been pondering on this day, as it represents a change for her. Having lived with such a structured routine for years, she feels the need for a personalized blueprint that still allows flexibility – like taking walks and pursuing new things. As a person who thrives on structure, she’s eagerly looking forward to creating her own system of order within this freedom. She’s absolutely thrilled about it!
Today, fans will undoubtedly feel her absence during their mornings; however, Hoda made the decision to prioritize her family above all else, knowing this was the right moment for it.
“I get one ride, that’s it,” she explained. “You only got one life, right? You’re the chooser.”
