Assassin’s Creed Shadows Won’t be Delayed Again, Ubisoft Says

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and patience when it comes to “Assassin’s Creed Shadows“. With its delayed release date set for February 2025, I’ve learned to take such announcements with a grain of salt. After all, in the world of gaming development, dates are more like suggestions than hard facts.

If Ubisoft’s original plans had been successful, “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” would have already hit the shelves by now. However, due to the poor commercial performance of “Star Wars Outlaws,” the company felt it couldn’t risk two consecutive high-profile failures and opted to postpone the long-awaited Japanese adventure of “Assassin’s Creed” from its initial release date, pushing it back to February. This decision was made in an effort to fine-tune and improve the overall gaming experience.

Despite uncertainties in any game development date, Ubisoft appears assured that the open world action RPG, “Assassin’s Creed Shadows,” won’t face any more delays. During a recent earnings call, Ubisoft’s Chief Corporate Finance Officer, Frédérick Duguet, stated that the game has already reached its full feature set following its previous delay, suggesting that it is on schedule for a release in February.

He stated that about a month ago, we had announced that AC Shadows was fully featured, which means it was almost ready for release. To ensure a flawless user experience from the very first day, we decided to delay its launch.” (Transcription via VGC)

We aim to ensure that the game will be delivered by mid-February, providing an excellent user experience, and maintaining top-notch quality.

Ubisoft announced that the extra time spent on developing ‘Assassin’s Creed: Shadow’ will increase its production expenses by approximately $21.7 million in total.

The game titled “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” is scheduled to release on February 14, 2025, and will be playable on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. On the launch day, it will be accessible through Steam. Interestingly, Ubisoft has decided to abandon its Season Pass plans, which consequently leads to a change in the pricing of the Collector’s Edition.
