Strictly Come Dancing pro Nadiya Bychkova suffers broken bone in rehearsals

As a long-time fan of Strictly Come Dancing, I must say that this season has been quite the rollercoaster ride! It seems like every week, we’re hit with some unexpected twist or turn. This time, it’s our beloved Nadiya Bychkova who’s taken a tumble during rehearsals and broken her thumb – oh, the drama!

It’s been reported that Nadiya Bychkova, a professional dancer from Strictly Come Dancing, suffered a broken thumb during rehearsals for the show.

Even though Bychkova isn’t competing as a contestant-dancer this year, she’s certainly continuing to participate in the weekly group dances and results show performances.

As reported by The Sun, the incident happened when she fell onto her hand during rehearsals on the 30th of October. It’s mentioned that she received immediate treatment from the medical staff right there, yet she is expected to perform in this week’s show, despite the injury.

It’s said that Bychkova is expected to make an appearance on the balcony this coming Saturday evening, and also participate in a group dance that will be broadcasted later during the season. This dance was being rehearsed by her at the time of her fall.

Initially, Bychkova was slated to compete on Strictly Come Dancing in 2024 with Olympic swimmer Tom Dean as her dance partner. However, they were the first couple to be sent home during the competition.

The latest setback for the series is that Nick Knowles, who was once on DIY SOS, had to miss a week due to an injury he sustained during rehearsals.

After attempting to change a tire, Knowles sustained a separate injury to his shoulder and arm. Consequently, he was required to wear a sling on his arm for recovery.

At that moment, Knowles expressed: “Unfortunately, it’s more bad news for me. Despite a challenging week, things were improving significantly this week. Training was going exceptionally well, and as Luba mentioned, I seemed to be dancing quite well. However, during rehearsals today, I took a fall and injured my knee.

As a film critic, I must admit that the medical team was exceptional. The physiotherapists and medics were top-notch, providing constant care and icing to help me recover. However, upon closer examination, they determined that a more in-depth look was required. Consequently, they’ve scheduled an MRI scan for me to get a better understanding of the situation.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday 2nd November at 6:30pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
