As a seasoned Call of Duty veteran with countless hours spent in the heat of battle and camo grinding sessions, I can confidently say that the AMES 85 is a weapon worth exploring beyond the popular XM4.
In Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, there are numerous weapons to choose from, yet some tend to stand out and be more frequently chosen. Currently, one of the most commonly utilized is the XM4, possibly due to being among the initial ARs (Assault Rifles) you acquire. However, its popularity isn’t only attributed to that factor; it also performs exceptionally well.
This exceptional feature has gained such popularity among top Call of Duty League players for this season that they have collectively decided not to utilize it in official matches. However, it’s important to note that it isn’t officially banned; instead, a Gentleman’s Agreement (GA) exists among the league members who choose not to employ it. Despite this agreement, I’ve observed its frequent use by many players in every game during my gaming experience.
Focusing solely on one weapon might lead you to overlook the diverse abilities of other weapons in your arsenal. Once I achieved the gold camouflage on the XM4, I decided to explore other options by going for the AMES 85 and its gold camo. To my surprise, it performs quite well! After using it extensively, I’m really enjoying it. Here’s how I’ve configured mine; I highly recommend you give it a shot as well.
How to get the AMES 85 in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
To fire laser beams using the AMES 85 in Black Ops 6, you first have to unlock it. Luckily, this process isn’t time-consuming.
After reaching level 19, you’ll gain access to a weapon that can be included in your personalized loadouts. Please note that initially, this weapon won’t be incredibly powerful; instead, it requires consistent effort and time invested to upgrade it. This process is essential for unlocking the attachments that will significantly enhance its performance.
If you haven’t yet reached level 19 and want to make it go quicker, I recommend playing game modes like Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Control, and Headquarters. These have more opportunities to score points in each match, more points makes a higher score, and better XP.
My preferred AMES 85 build in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Regarding my skills in Call of Duty, I wouldn’t exactly be considered an expert by most standards. However, the setup I’ve designed for the AMES 85 has proven quite effective for me. It boasts a solid rate of fire, swift reloading, and negligible recoil, making it versatile in both close-quarters and long-range combat situations.
Absolutely, you won’t be able to utilize all these attachments immediately; instead, you’ll need to invest your time and effort gradually, tackling each part as you progressively advance.
Here’s what I have equipped:
- Compensator
- Reinforced Barrel
- Fast Mag
- Ranger Foregrip
- Quickdraw Grip
- Light Stock
- 5.56 NATO Overpressured fire mod
- Pinpoint Holoscout
Here are some alternative options you might consider, like the “Ported Compensator” or the “Ergonomic Grip.” The Ported Compensator enhances first-shot recoil control, while the Ergonomic Grip may slightly decrease ADS speed; this could be advantageous if you’re a player who appreciates improvements in slide-to-fire and dive-to-fire. However, I prefer maintaining maximum ADS speed with the Quickdraw grip since it better suits my playstyle.
The choice of optic is entirely up to you. I haven’t settled on the Pinpoint Holoscout for any reason other than I’m in the process of unlocking all the reticles, so if you want something different, perhaps with higher magnification, go for it.
To effectively utilize all these accessories on your weapon, it’s essential to incorporate the Gunfighter Wildcard. This feature expands the number of attachment points you can use, and honestly, it’s a wise investment. The ability to add extra attachments can significantly improve the performance of the AMES 85 from being merely acceptable to good.
With the Enforcer role selected, the AMES 85 configured in this manner aligns perfectly with my preferred playstyle in Call of Duty. It’s swift and precise, while the speed boost to movement and health regeneration upon kill granted by Enforcer keeps you on the offensive and active.
Additionally, consider employing the Assault Pack field upgrade if you frequently deplete your ammunition quickly. Typically, a member of your squad will carry one, but it’s an excellent backup to ensure continuous shooting.
If you’re gunning for the camo unlocks, and you’ve been struggling with this one, this setup will also help you knock off those headshot requirements really quickly. It’s so stable that assuming you can aim for the head, you’ll hit them more often than not.
