Strictly Come Dancing pro stole the show without even taking to dance floor

As a long-time Strictly enthusiast who has witnessed countless sequined spins and glittering ballroom tango steps, I must say that this year’s standout performer is none other than Carlos Gu. His electrifying performance during Icons Week, channeling the enigmatic David Bowie, was a sight to behold!

It seems that Carlos Gu doesn’t have a famous dance partner for Strictly Come Dancing this season, but based on viewer feedback, he has certainly managed to outshine others and capture attention.

The Professionally dedicated dancer, known for his past partnerships with Molly Rainford and Angela Scanlan, remains a prominent figure in ensemble performances this season. Fans seemed particularly smitten by the unique attire he donned during Icons Week (November 2nd).

I was donning an iconic David Bowie ensemble straight out of 1973’s Aladdin Sane, complete with a fiery red wig and the unmistakable red-and-blue lightning bolt emblazoned across my face.

Many fans expressed their admiration for X (previously known as Twitter), extolling the virtues of the costume and Carlos, with one spectator exclaiming in capital letters – “CARLOS IS BOWIE AS HE SHOULD BE OMG LOOKS SO GOOD?!

“Another user expressed their unyielding fascination with Carlos,” wrote someone else, as another commented: “The Claudiorium belongs to Carlos.” (This version preserves the original meaning and maintains a natural, easy-to-read style.)

As a moviegoer, I must confess that after each episode from Carlos, maintaining my focus during the dance performances becomes quite a challenge. Week after week, he leaves me spellbound!

Due to Carlos, it seems like I won’t manage to give my full attention to any of the dances this evening, considering his weekly appearances on Strictly.

During the current topic, another user brought up an interesting point by asking: “Since it’s Icons Week, who will create a dance in honor of their chosen icon?

For the very first time, we had a unique, music-themed week dedicated to honoring iconic figures in the music industry. Starting this year, it will be an annual tradition to celebrate them like this.

During the entire performance, the couples honored celebrities spanning various decades by dancing to hits from their idols such as Whitney Houston, Shirley Bassey, and Queen.

Earlier on the Monday Mile podcast, Carlos mentioned that he doesn’t have a partner for this year’s season. He explained to host Aimee Fuller that this decision wasn’t always about personal reasons, but rather due to differences in viewpoints and team dynamics.

“We aim for the show to be impressive and reflect well on our company. It’s about ensuring the production looks good overall, not singling anyone out. I believe once you grasp this perspective, some of the decisions may seem less personal to you.

Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday on BBC One and iPlayer.
