Strictly Come Dancing’s Shirley Ballas addresses how long she’ll stay on show

As a seasoned film critic with over three decades of immersing myself in the world of dance, I must say Shirley Ballas‘ commitment to Strictly Come Dancing is nothing short of admirable. Her unwavering dedication to the show and her love for it is as evident as the rhythm in a well-choreographed waltz.

Shirley Ballas has spoken candidly about her future with Strictly Come Dancing, expressing that she has no intention of leaving her position as a judge on the BBC program.

To put it simply, the Head Judge is deeply passionate about her role within the show, expressing that she intends to remain part of the judging panel until she retires or passes away.

She shared with The Daily Star on Sunday that she’s been part of the show for eight years, and intends to remain there until it’s time for her to retire or pass away.

“Every year, when I’m asked to come back, I have a little think and then I say, ‘Yes, thank you’.”

Shirley doesn’t want to outstay her welcome, however, it seems.

If they no longer need me, that’s the only situation where I might consider attending,” the Latin Queen expressed to the press.

Nevertheless, even after spending eight years on Strictly Come Dancing, she continues to find pleasure in participating in the show each new season. Occasionally, she encounters criticism from internet trolls, but this doesn’t deter her.

Each year, the event offers something fresh and introduces me to new faces. This is a family-oriented program that’s cherished nationwide. What makes it special for me is its uplifting themes, which resonate deeply.

In 2017, Shirley became a member of the Strictly panel, taking over from Len Goodman who had previously held the position as Head Judge and decided to step down.

In this round, the panel consists of: Anton du Beke, Motsi Mabuse, and the last original judge, Craig Revel Horwood.

Strictly Come Dancing 2024 airs Saturday evenings on BBC One.
