Strictly’s Claudia Winkleman shuts down Anton du Beke as Tess Daly struggles to keep a straight face

As a seasoned Strictly Come Dancing aficionado with over two decades of dance enthusiast experiences under my belt, I must say that this week’s episode was a rollercoaster ride of laughter and entertainment. Anton Du Beke’s transformation into Rod Stewart, or rather Auntie Joan, had the audience in stitches. The chemistry between him and Claudia Winkleman is unparalleled, and their quick wit and humor never fail to amuse us.

Over the past week, viewers of Strictly Come Dancing admired Anton Du Beke’s Halloween costume, which he wore in conjunction with Craig Revel Horwood, as they donned the Grady twins’ attire from The Shining. Tonight, Craig made a return with an eye-catching outfit for Icons Week.

On this occasion, he donned the costume of Rod Stewart; however, Claudia Winkleman thought he bore a slight resemblance to another person.

Anton exclaimed, “Of course, it’s me, Rod Stewart!” He then jokingly asked Claudia, “Don’t you think I’m sexy?” referring to one of the singer’s well-known songs.

During the conversation, Tess found it hard not to laugh out loud, appearing to battle back her chuckles all through the discussion while glancing at the comically dressed panel members.

Later on, Anton brought up the costume once more while discussing the first dance of the night performed by Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystał.

As a film critic, I would say, “The performance showed promise… reminiscent of an aspiring Rod Stewart costume, if you will. However, it seemed to peak at a level that was akin to Bet Lynch’s performances, and I can’t help but feel your dance may have reached a similar plateau.

This week marked the inaugural event of an annual tradition – a unique, music-themed week honoring iconic figures in the music industry, and it’s planned to continue yearly from hereon.

During the entire performance, the pairs honored celebrities spanning various decades by dancing to hits from their idols such as Whitney Houston, Shirley Bassey, and Queen. It’s just fortunate that some of their outfits appear more authentic than Anton’s…
