Ghosts co-creators update on future collaborations with the sitcom team

As a long-time admirer of British humor and a devoted fan of the Ghosts series, I eagerly await any new ventures from this talented ensemble. Having spent countless hours binge-watching these spectral shenanigans, I feel like I’ve grown quite close to the characters, much like a grieving widow who can’t let go of her deceased husband’s socks.

The team behind BBC One’s Ghosts has shared news about potential future projects, expressing optimism that there might be some thrilling developments ahead, not too far off.

In a freshly published book titled “Brought to Life: Six Years of Making Ghosts – A Sitcom”, readers get a peek at the hidden workings and discussions that took place during the production of the sitcom.

In the past two years, another book set in the Ghosts universe has been released, named “The Button House Archives.” This book served to enrich and elaborate upon the world of the cherished series.

She stated, “I believe we’ve shared everything with our fans.” We’ve shown them the journey, offered a glimpse into what happens backstage, and shared bits of knowledge that we have access to, which might not be readily available to them.

“So I can’t see that there’s another opportunity, but who knows?”

Matthew Baynton, both creator and co-actor, concurred that there wasn’t a strong desire within the team to create additional Ghosts books. However, he promised fans that they would channel their creative powers into fresh projects together instead.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about the current workings of the Ghosts collective. Though we’re still waiting for full details on their latest project, it’s been revealed that some team members will momentarily branch out, working together in duos to bring new projects to life.

It was announced in October that Laurence Rickard, known for his roles as Robin and Sir Humphrey, and Ben Willbond, who played The Captain, are developing an animated series for Netflix, drawing some inspiration from the style of shows like Family Guy.

I’m sorry, but Rickard wasn’t able to share anything specific regarding that performance, however, he did mention that they are currently working on several projects.

He mentioned: “I’ve penned a few pieces independently, collaborated with Ben on one, and worked with Martha on another – each one engaging slightly distinct creative aspects. Therefore, I’m optimistic about delivering enjoyable and thrilling content in the near future.

Earlier, Rickard and Willbond collaborated on the UKTV sci-fi special “We Are Not Alone”. At the same time, Ghosts co-creator Simon Farnaby enlisted Baynton for a significant role in the family movie hit “Wonka”, which he also co-wrote last year.

Ghosts is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
