Coronation Street flashback reveals blackmail twist in early ITVX release

As a long-time fan of Coronation Street, I’ve seen my fair share of twists and turns, but this latest development has got me hooked! DS Lisa Swain, a character I’ve admired for her tenacity, is once again at the heart of the action. The red car lead turning out to be a dead end was quite the surprise, especially considering Kit Green’s questionable actions.

⚠️ Note: This discussion includes plot revelations from the Coronation Street episode scheduled for Monday, 4th November 2024, which can be streamed online via ITVX. Proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers!

In the most recent episode, suspect number seven found their name on Coronation Street’s growing list of possible murder suspects regarding the demise of Joel Deering (Calum Lill). Another flashback scene replayed the fateful night when Joel was killed.

During her break, Detective Sergeant Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) was considering the purchase of festival tickets for herself and her daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin). Meanwhile, Carla Connor (Alison King) chose to spend time with her.

Simultaneously, DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) informed Lisa that her investigation into a potential witness, a red car, regarding the murder had hit a wall – as viewers had seen Kit erasing the records of his own red vehicle!

Upon noticing a bottle of whiskey among Kit’s belongings, Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) directly addressed him about stealing from the pub. She also mentioned that this specific bottle had been missing for an entire month.

A flashback showed Kit returning to his lodgings at the Rovers looking shaken as he reached for the drink, but he told Daisy he had turned to whiskey after attending the funeral of his half-brother Paul Foreman (Peter Ash).

Kit struggled with guilt over mourning a man he hardly knew well, and Daisy understood; however, she confronted him about his deceit once Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) cautioned her that Kit had been extracting details about her from him.

In a professional setting, I found myself summoned into Kit’s office, where he grilled me about an ominous message I nearly dispatched to Joel. It took some digging, but I finally confessed that on the fateful night of the murder, I was admitted to the hospital due to a car accident.

Kit, nonetheless, mentioned that it wasn’t a solid alibi since the timeframes preceded Joel’s tragic demise. Later on, Lisa voiced her concerns to Carla, and it quickly appeared that Kit was concealing more facts than initially assumed.

At the end of the episode, we see Kit unintentionally breaking the passenger-side mirror on another vehicle – a detail that had been the focus of Lisa’s recent investigation.

Finding Joel with signs of injury, Kit moved to apprehend him; however, the situation took a turn when Joel threatened Kit for concealing evidence inside Nathan Curtis’s (Chris Harper) vehicle.

Since Joel served as Nathan’s lawyer, there was a sense of confinement for Kit. It seemed as though Joel was able to escape, leaving us questioning if Kit was the one who last saw the antagonist before he met his end – or if perhaps, under the circumstances, Kit ended up taking Joel’s life himself.
