As a die-hard Marvel fan who has lived through the epic rollercoaster of the MCU for decades, I can’t help but feel a pang of regret and anticipation regarding the missed opportunity of Patty Guggenheim’s Madisynn gracing our screens in “Agatha All Along“.

In the current Disney+ phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one of the cherished side characters almost embarked on a journey along the Witches’ Path. The hit show “Agatha All Along” was already stacked with top-tier talent, featuring Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza alongside heavyweights like Patti LuPone, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, and Debra Jo Rupp. It seems that the plan was to add Patty Guggenheim to this talented group, reprising her role as Madisynn from the upcoming series “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law“.

If you’ve seen She-Hulk, you likely recall the character Madisynn. Even if you haven’t watched Marvel’s She-Hulk TV show, you might still remember her. In 2022, Madisynn became a viral sensation, launching a popular meme trend. Over the past few years, she has been one of the most well-liked characters in the MCU. The creator of Agatha All Along, Jac Schaeffer, wanted to include Madisynn in the coven that traveled along the Witches’ Road in the latest series.

In conversation with “The Ringer-Verse”, Schaeffer disclosed that initially they intended to include Madisynn as part of the coven at the start of the series. Unfortunately, this idea didn’t pan out because incorporating Madisynn didn’t align well with the storyline’s logic.

Schaeffer explained that they had tried to bring Madisynn along the Witches’ Road, but it turned out to be an awkward fit, akin to forcing something where it doesn’t quite belong.

To include Madisynn in the coven’s journey along the Witches’ Road, the creative team needed to devise a way for her to travel to Westview first, and then somehow blend her into the storyline seamlessly without it appearing forced or merely fan service. The numerous steps that would have been required to pull this off likely made Madisynn’s appearance impractical.

It’s intriguing to consider if Debra Jo Rupp’s character, Mrs. Hart, might have ticked the same narrative boxes as Madisynn would have. After all, she’s a beloved comedic figure who brings laughter without being a witch, and her presence in Westview adds a dose of humor to the overall situation. Unlike Madisynn, Mrs. Hart was already settled in Westview, living in the same location as before WandaVision. Her inclusion seemed entirely fitting and didn’t raise any eyebrows; it felt like a natural progression to have her involved in the storyline.

If that’s how it turns out, perhaps it’s better for Madisynn not to have seen “Agatha All Along”. We hope to see more of Madisynn in the MCU at some point, but Mrs. Hart seemed a more suitable (and possibly even funnier) choice for the storyline of “Agatha All Along”.
