- Claude AI’s Windows version ships with Windows on Arm support for a seamless user experience.
- Claude AI mobile apps also received dictation support, allowing users to interact with the chatbot using their voice.
As a seasoned researcher with a penchant for AI and its applications, I find the recent developments surrounding Claude AI and Copilot AI particularly intriguing. Having closely followed the evolution of these AI assistants, it’s fascinating to see how they are now making their way onto desktop platforms, offering users a more integrated and seamless experience.
If you haven’t heard yet, Anthropic introduced desktop applications for their advanced AI assistant, Claude, compatible with both Windows and macOS systems. For Windows users, the company released two distinct versions of the application: one for x64 architecture and another for arm64 architecture.
Users of Claude AI can anticipate a more streamlined, quicker, and targeted experience with the upcoming desktop applications. Although it’s currently in the beta phase, both free and paid users are able to download the Claude AI desktop apps.
On the other hand, it’s possible that Anthropic is refining the user experience of their apps, as they continue to develop advanced features. Notably, the latest desktop applications provide an interface comparable to the web version, enabling users to effortlessly revisit past chats and highlight important conversations.
The desktop version of the AI chatbot makes navigation more straightforward and seamless for users than the web version. Windows users can launch the app using the Ctrl + Alt + Space shortcut. Additionally, Claude AI received dictation support across its mobile apps, including Android and iOS. Users can interact with the chatbot using their voice.
In October, Anthropic released an updated version of Claude 3.5 Sonnet together with a fresh model named Claude 3.5 Haiku, boasting improved programming skills and additional features. Alongside this, the company introduced “Computer Use” for open testing, allowing developers to instruct Claude to interact with computers in a manner similar to humans—by viewing a screen, moving a cursor, clicking buttons, and typing text. Notably, Claude 3.5 Sonnet is the first AI model to offer computer use during public beta testing.
After OpenAI released ChatGPT for Windows following its initial rollout on MacBooks during a special event in May, which had sparked controversy given Microsoft’s significant investment and integration of OpenAI’s technology. This decision raised eyebrows, as OpenAI later clarified that they were focusing their efforts on platforms where their users are more prevalent, stating, “We’re simply prioritizing where our userbase is.
In simple terms, Anthropic’s AI might challenge Microsoft’s Copilot on the Windows platform. The latest upgrade for Copilot has brought a friendly and intelligent user experience, along with advanced AI capabilities such as Copilot Vision.
Users, including Microsoft staff members, have criticized the recent update, pointing out a deteriorated user experience and labeling it as a setback that has significantly impaired Copilot’s performance. Some users have even asked for an option to revert back to the previous version of Copilot, openly showing their dissatisfaction with the current update.
