As a seasoned analyst with over two decades of gaming experience under my belt, I’ve witnessed the evolution of battle royale games like Apex Legends from their infancy to their current formidable state. The latest season, From the Rift, promises to bring significant changes, particularly to one of the original characters, Lifeline.
There’s some big changes coming to Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale experience.
In their newest season titled “From the Rift,” Apex Legends has reworked one of its original characters, Lifeline, who first debuted when the game was initially launched in 2019. Now referred to as Lifeline Revived by the developers, this update aims to enhance her utility in various team combinations, making her more versatile overall.
Designer Evan Funnell points out that “Lifeline” is a cherished character within the game, and they typically revamp a figure when it fails to meet expectations by a large margin. Notably, Lifeline is the second character to be reworked, following Revenant who underwent changes back in August 2023.
With the latest update, Lifeline gains an enhancement to her skills, enabling her to grasp onto her D.O.C drone and soar through the air for a short while. The D.O.C can also be instructed to trail closely behind a fellow teammate. A significant change in Lifeline’s ultimate ability has been made, as it now creates a protective shield encompassing her in a 360-degree sphere, safeguarding her from damage coming from all directions, except for that originating from above.
During the major overhaul of Lifeline, additional perks are being granted to other support characters in Apex Legends. Now, supports won’t be hindered by slowing effects while healing their teammates, and they can quicken the pace at which they revive downed allies.
Ultimately, it’s crucial for every player to keep their eyes open for the elusive Rift Relics. These relics hide an arsenal of weapons and equipment that are potent enough to alter the outcome of a battle, like a EPG-1 launcher with unlimited ammo.
Apex Legends: From the Rift is available starting today.
At present, Apex Legends can be played for free across various platforms including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, it’s not accessible on Steam Deck or Linux systems due to Electronic Arts stating that the platform is plagued by an excessive number of cheaters.
