Should you help Minrathous or Treviso in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?

Should you help Minrathous or Treviso in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?

As a seasoned Dragon Age veteran, I’ve weathered many a stormy decision that could make or break my character’s relationships and the fate of entire cities. This time around, it’s the choice between saving Minrathous or Treviso, two places I’ve grown fond of during my travels.

In the game Dragon Age: The Veilguard, one critical choice you’ll face early on (after creating your character) is deciding which city to rescue – Minrathous or Treviso – when they’re both under siege.

The challenging part here is that it’s a decision that will impact your relationship directly with your companions, so it’s a cause for stress with repercussions on your relationships.

Below, we will discuss the different choices and consequences of both options.

Regrettably, there isn’t always a single correct option in this case. Whichever choice you make might displease someone slightly, so it’s up to you to decide what suits your game experience the best.

In the tradition of BioWare games, players are often faced with difficult choices, and that trend continues in Dragon Age: The Veilguard as both significant locations you’ve previously invested time in now face peril.

Keep reading for an insight into what decision would suit you.

I chose to save Minrathous during my playthrough for a couple of reasons.

Initially, I’ve taken up a relationship with Neve Gallus, a local resident who resides in this city. Moreover, I opted for the Shadow Dragons faction, implying that my character is also native to Minrathous, thus it seems logical for my gameplay experience to follow this path.

If you’re courting Lucanis Dellamorte, the Antivan Crow, it would be beneficial for your bond with him if you decide to protect Treviso, since Treviso serves as his home.

For me, the aspect that seemed contradictory was during the setup, where he stated that Treviso lacked defense against dragons. However, it’s up to you to decide what works best for your gameplay and relationships in the end.

If neither option significantly affects the cities differently, choosing between them becomes less complex, as the outcomes for both scenarios have roughly equal effects on the urban areas.

What are the consequences of choosing Minrathous or Treviso?

The consequences are pretty severe and impact the next stage of the game, with whichever city you choose not to save being ransacked, blighted and seeing plenty of civilians dying.

If you don’t protect a city even though you send your other comrades to help there, it usually doesn’t thrive, which significantly lowers the likelihood of forming a bond with that specific companion as they grow tougher and more resilient, but it’s not entirely out of reach.

In the city you decide not to protect, additional side missions will emerge, symbolizing the shift in the town’s circumstances. These tasks enable you to confront and manage the consequences of the event, emphasizing its gravity.

In the event that I decide not to assist a particular companion, they’ll need to take some time off to handle cleanup matters at their place, becoming temporarily unreachable for a while.

Any nearby side missions, as the region has been devastated, are likely to have been terminated. Instead, you’ll find new missions connected to the corruption spreading throughout the city.

Should you decide against protecting Minrathous, the Venatori are likely to seize power during the dragon assault, thereby expanding their influence within the city.

Here’s what you need to know regarding the challenging choice in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. May your decisions bring success, and remember, if dissatisfied with the result, you can revert back to a previous saved game.
