As a seasoned Stardew Valley player who has tilled countless fields and courted a variety of villagers across different platforms, I must say the long-awaited 1.6 update has been nothing short of a game-changer. The mobile version’s secret multiplayer feature is an exciting addition, although it seems to be a well-kept secret that only those with a knack for Konami codes can unlock.
Players of Stardew Valley across all devices are now enjoying the long-awaited 1.6 update, which was initially released for PCs and later rolled out to consoles and mobile platforms. It took several months for this update to reach console and mobile users, but the wait is over! Interestingly, those playing on mobile devices have an exclusive feature to explore. This hidden aspect links back to Stardew Valley’s multiplayer mode, although it was previously under wraps. However, with Eric Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley, revealing the steps to access this secret feature, it’s no longer a mystery!
Hey fellow gamers! I’ve got some exciting news if you’re playing Stardew Valley on your iOS or Android device – a new secret multiplayer feature has been rolled out just for us! However, my friends on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch consoles, and PCs might have to wait this one out. But hey, for mobile Stardew Valley players like me, it’s time to connect with others in a multiplayer session! Just remember that the experience may not be as seamless as it would be on other platforms. Let’s enjoy the journey together!
To unlock the multiplayer mode on Stardew Valley’s mobile version, follow these steps: Recognize the four sets of leaves on the game’s logo, each facing a distinct direction. Press the corresponding leaves in this order: up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right. Once you’ve done that, tap the question mark block located at the bottom-right corner. Exit the resulting menu, and you should find a multiplayer option where you can either host or join a session.

In the menu for the cooperative game, Barone mentioned, you’ll either see ‘Host’ or ‘Join’ as options. If you opt for ‘Join’, input the IP address of the person who is hosting. On the other hand, if you choose to ‘Host’, you’ll first need to prepare your farm, and once it’s ready, others can connect to you, provided there are available cabins. They will then require your IP address to do so.
In a mobile environment, Barone advised that disruptions could occur when two individuals who are simultaneously using their mobile devices attempt to collaborate in a world controlled by one of them. For a more stable and reliable connection, he suggested connecting via a PC-hosted server. However, since this feature is still in the experimental stage, Stardew Valley players can feel free to explore and test things out as they wish.
Baron has yet to provide a specific timeline for the complete rollout of the multiplayer feature on the mobile adaptation of Stardew Valley.
