In 2024, it was projected by NBC News on November 6th that Donald Trump, along with his vice president nominee JD Vance, had been elected as the 47th President and Vice President of the United States, beating current Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz. Although Inauguration Day is in January, not only Trump and his wife Melania Trump will be making headlines on that day, but also the designer of the first lady’s inaugural dress.
At the swearing-in ceremony of Trump, who was the 45th president, in 2017, Melania donned a light blue dress and jacket from Ralph Lauren Collection. Her attire echoed the coat worn by former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy at her husband John F. Kennedy’s inauguration in 1961. Later that evening at the inaugural ball, Melania switched to an off-the-shoulder silk crepe gown in vanilla shade with ruffle details and a red ribbon belt designed by Hervé Pierre.
The gowns are showcased in the First Ladies Collection at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. This collection, which currently has 27 dresses and over 160 other items, traces its origins back to our first First Lady, Martha Washington.

In December 2023, Ivanka (whose mother was the late Ivana Trump) donned a Monique Lhuillier dress for the Fontainebleau Las Vegas’s grand opening. The outfit consisted of a black top and a silver sequined skirt adorned with sparkles.
Approximately four weeks following his declaration of his presidential bid for 2024, Donald Trump graced a New Year’s Eve celebration at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach. At this December 2022 function, he donned a black tuxedo, while his wife Melania chose a shimmering silver gown by Dolce & Gabbana for the occasion.
In October 2021, the pair went to see Game Four of the World Series featuring the Houston Astros versus the Atlanta Braves. Melania opted for a trench coat during their excursion, while Trump donned a black suit and a red tie.
Tiffany Trump, Donald Trump’s youngest daughter from his marriage with Marla Maples, donned a light-blue suit at the virtual 2020 Republican National Convention, an event held during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
2019 saw the former Apprentice contestant and ex-model attend Clarence House in London for a meeting with King Charles III and Queen Camilla. On this special day, Melania opted for a bright yellow outfit by Valentino, while Trump chose a black suit and blue tie.
In June 2018, Melania was criticized for wearing a jacket with the message “I don’t care, do you?” while visiting migrant children in Texas. However, she explained to ABC News later that October, saying the jacket was intended as a response to her critics and to show them that their criticism wouldn’t deter her from doing what she believes is right.

Ivanka’s most recent Met Gala appearance was in 2016, when she attended with husband Jared Kushner and wore a red Ralph Lauren Collection jumpsuit for the theme Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology.
Up to that point, she had attended the Costume Institute’s ball every year since 2004 aside from the 2011 gala.
In 2016, Donald Trump made a stop accompanied by Melania, Ivanka, Tiffany, Don Jr., and Eric. His grandsons Kai Trump and Tristan Trump, two of the five children his eldest son has with ex-wife Vanessa Trump, were also present for the visit.
