As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of post-apocalyptic escapades under my belt, the announcement of Metro Awakening has me more excited than a vault dweller stumbling upon a Nuka-Cola vending machine. Having traversed the desolate wastelands of Metro multiple times, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia as I eagerly anticipate this prequel to the series that first captured my imagination with its atmospheric blend of horror and survival.
Metro Awakening, a VR-exclusive shooter developed by Vertigo Games. This title is set for release soon, though early access is already available for those who purchased its Deluxe Edition.
The story titled “Metro Awakening” acts as a precursor to “Metro 2033,” focusing on the character of Dr. Serdar and revealing Khan’s backstory. This narrative structure mirrors that of the first two games in the series, differing from the semi-open world style seen in “Metro Exodus.” Additionally, it places greater emphasis on combat that is more deliberate, stealth gameplay, and horror aspects—features that should be quite recognizable to fans of the series.
The global release of “Metro Awakening” is set for November 7, available on PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest 2 and 3, as well as SteamVR. You can preview the game’s initial seven minutes by following this link.
