Nintendo Teases Strong Nintendo Switch Lineup for 2025

As a long-time Nintendo enthusiast who’s been through the ups and downs of GameCube and Wii era, I must say that 2025 is looking brighter than ever for the Switch! The lineup of games announced so far is nothing short of impressive, with some real gems like Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. And let’s not forget about the third-party titles like Guilty Gear Strive: Nintendo Switch Edition and Sid Meier’s Civilization VII!


2025 is fast approaching, and I can’t help but feel the anticipation building for what’s next on my Nintendo Switch! In their recent financial update, Nintendo hinted at some exciting developments coming our way. While there’s been a lot of talk about their upcoming console, I’m finding myself more and more captivated by the lineup they’ve got planned for this hardware.

In the illustration given, you’ll notice the four Nintendo-developed games scheduled for release in 2025: “Donkey Kong Country Returns HD”, “Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition”, “Pokemon Legends: Z-A”, and “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond”. The first game, “Donkey Kong Country Returns HD”, will debut on January 16th. The upcoming “Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition” has been announced for March 20th release. As for “Pokemon Legends: Z-A” and “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond”, their launch dates have not been set yet, but we expect to hear more about them in early 2025. The Pokemon Company has been rather tight-lipped about “Legends: Z-A” so far, however, we anticipate a change in this soon. It’s worth noting that Pokemon Day is celebrated on February 27th every year, and we can expect to receive a lot of information regarding these games around that time.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share some upcoming releases that caught my eye! First off, the much-anticipated Guilty Gear Strive: Nintendo Switch Edition, set to arrive in January, brings together all 28 characters from past versions in one exciting package.

Moving ahead in 2025, it’ll be intriguing to observe how this collection of games expands further. A common criticism about previous Nintendo systems was their lack of software towards the end of their lifespan, leaving them feeling neglected. Consoles such as GameCube and Wii seemed to be largely ignored in their final years, with Nintendo focusing more on the upcoming console for development resources. However, Nintendo has managed to reverse this trend during the Switch era, consistently releasing games, and their initial lineup is quite promising at least. At the very minimum, the console won’t end its lifespan with a sigh, which is definitely a positive sign!
