As a gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t express enough my excitement about this revelation! Growing up, I remember being utterly captivated by the enigmatic Eva in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The mystery surrounding her identity only added to the game’s allure. To finally learn that Jodi Benson, the voice of Ariel from The Little Mermaid, was behind the persona of Eva is truly a mind-blowing moment!
For two decades, fans of the game “Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater” have pondered over a certain mystery. As Konami prepares for the launch of the remake, “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater,” they’ve been sharing a series of videos titled the “Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series.” These videos, narrated by David Hayter, who voices Solid Snake/Big Boss, have provided fresh insights into Metal Gear games from the past. Recently, in one of these videos, a question that has puzzled “Metal Gear Solid 3” fans for years about one of its main characters has finally been clarified.
For over fifteen years, the woman portraying the character Eva in Metal Gear Solid 3 has been a subject of speculation. In the game’s credits, Suzetta Miñet was credited as playing Eva, but this actress had no other roles to her name. As a result, fans have long suspected that Miñet was actually an alias for another actress who wished to keep her association with the game private. Although various theories about the true identity of Miñet have circulated over the years, actress Jodi Benson recently disclosed that she is indeed the actress behind Eva.

In a recent episode of Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series, Benson, famous for playing Ariel in The Little Mermaid, spoke candidly about her reluctance to associate her name with Metal Gear Solid 3 due to her past roles being more family-friendly. Since she was apprehensive about connecting herself to a mature title like MGS3, she adopted the pseudonym Miñet back in 2003 during production of the game alongside Hayter.
In previous conventions, Benson mentioned that people who are fans of Metal Gear have requested her autograph for copies of Metal Gear Solid 3. To keep up appearances, she’d act as if she had no part in the game, but secretly she’d advise them not to expose her involvement. Regarding the name Suzetta Miñet, Benson revealed it was a fun twist on the name of her childhood pet dog, Suzette Monet.
Once more, Benson will take on the character of Eva, just as the original cast of Metal Gear Solid 3 (MGS3) will reprise their roles in the remake titled Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. As of now, Konami has not specified a release window for this new edition of Snake Eater, but it is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.
