As a seasoned analyst with over two decades of experience in tech and finance industries, I’ve witnessed the evolution of technology from its infancy to the present day digital revolution. The partnership between Google Cloud and Cronos Labs is not just another collaboration; it’s a testament to the growing maturity and acceptance of blockchain technology by global tech giants.
Google Cloud now serves as the primary verifier for the Cronos blockchain, illustrating the expanding use of cryptocurrencies by major tech companies worldwide.
In the broader scope of its collaboration with Cronos Labs, Google Cloud is set to assume the role of primary blockchain validator. This move aims to infuse more technological advancements and encourage a higher number of developers to adopt the network.
The alliance indicates Google Cloud reinforcing its dedication towards the Web3 sector, as stated by Rishi Ramchandani, who heads the Web3 APAC division at Google Cloud. In his own words, he penned down this sentiment.
“Google Cloud will also collaborate with Cronos to provide developers with the resources they need to build the next generation of decentralized applications, leveraging Google Cloud’s secure infrastructure, advanced AI capabilities, and powerful data analytics tools.”
In this role as a key verifier, Google Cloud is now part of a group consisting of 32 verifiers within the Cronos Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) system’s protocol. By generating and verifying fresh blocks, Google Cloud plays an essential part in fortifying the network’s security and fostering its decentralization.
Large firms are joining the Web3 space
This collaboration signifies Cronos Labs’ intention to team up with an increasing number of skilled open-source developers and validators who possess advanced technical expertise.
Other notable Cronos blockchain validators include Crypto.com, Blockdaemon, Ubisoft and Exaion.
More and more large companies worldwide, such as Google Cloud, are moving into the Web3 sector. It’s anticipated that additional developer-focused businesses will do the same, as suggested by Ken Timsit, the manager at Cronos Labs.
Timsit told CryptoMoon:
“The Web3 space is difficult to ignore for any developer-centric company given the enormous amount of open-source development and innovation happening here. As far as we can tell, this trend is not specific to 2024, it has been going on for several years.”
In their role as the main cloud service on Cronos, Google Cloud delivers real benefits to both end-users and developers connected to the network, as stated by Timsit. He further emphasized:
“First, it enhances the security and reliability of the whole network. Second, it makes the Cronos Accelerator program even more appealing to startups. Finally, it opens the door to the creation of a new generation of innovative decentralized applications using Google Cloud’s data processing, computing and AI capabilities.”
Notably, a variety of major companies are delving into the realm of Web3 technologies. Among these pioneers are luxury automobile manufacturers like Lamborghini and Ferrari, tech giants such as Amazon Web Services, and fashion brands such as Dolce & Gabanna, Nike, and Adidas.
