Major Anime Video Game Stuns Fans With Cancellation Announcement

Major Anime Video Game Stuns Fans With Cancellation Announcement

As a dedicated gamer with years of experience under my belt, I’ve witnessed countless games come and go, but the closure of Konosuba: Fantastic Days is one that truly saddens me. Having followed Kazuma Satou’s adventures since the very first season, it was an absolute delight to see my favorite characters brought to life in a mobile game. The thought of not being able to join them on their fantastical quests from January 2025 is a bitter pill to swallow.

Games like video games and anime pair wonderfully, much like peanut butter and chocolate. In this very year, countless gaming enthusiasts remain captivated on their sofas, embodying numerous characters from the popular anime series, Dragon Ball, due to the launch of the highly praised fighting game, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. Zenless Zone Zero, though not originating from a well-known anime franchise, has embraced the aesthetic of anime and has amassed a dedicated fanbase as a result. Regrettably, not every shiny thing in the world of anime video games is valuable, as a major mobile game has declared its intention to shut down operations early next year.

The anime series “Konosuba -God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World-” is renowned for being one of the top isekai series in the animation world. The main character, Kazuma Satou, a cynical protagonist, meets an untimely end in his original world and gets reborn in another filled with magic and enchantment. He seizes the chance to bring something from his old life into this new one, surprisingly choosing Aqua, the goddess who presented this new realm, as his companion on this adventure. Alongside characters like Darkness, a powerful fighter, and Megumin, a mage adept at casting explosive spells, they embark on a journey to build a life for themselves in this novel world while confronting various challenges. However, fans won’t be able to experience these challenges as they once did through one of the most popular gaming installments within “Konosuba”.

Fantastic Days Ends

2021 saw the global debut of “Konosuba: Fantasy Days,” which had initially been launched in Japan in 2020. Regrettably, Sumzap, the developers behind the game, announced that “Fantastic Days” will cease operations on January 30th, 2025. In a positive development, Sumzap also revealed they plan to release updates for the game before it shuts down.

Dear Player,

Sumzap expresses their sincere apologies to all their long-time supporters for this unexpected news. Until the service concludes, they will continue to publish key stories and organize events and campaigns. They hope that everyone will continue to enjoy Kono Fan right up until the end. Additionally, they have chosen to develop an offline version of the app, allowing players to savor the tale and interactions with Kono Fan’s characters even after the service is discontinued. The team would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for your support of Kono Fan thus far.

Konosuba’s Future

The popular anime “Konosuba” finished its third season this summer, and although no announcement has been made about a fourth season, there’s a strong possibility we’ll see more of the Isekai group in the future. An OVA (Original Video Animation) was also announced, set to extend the series, but specifics like release date and plot details are yet to be disclosed.
