Star Wars Jedi: Survivor PS5 Pro Update Improves Base Resolutions for Both Graphics Modes

As a gamer with decades worth of pixel-chasing adventures under my belt, the news about Star Wars Jedi: Survivor‘s enhancements on PS5 Pro has me buzzing like a Tauntaun in a sandstorm! The higher resolutions and ray-tracing capabilities are music to my aging eyes. However, as someone who’s seen more than a few games promise smooth performance only for it to falter, I’m keeping my lightsaber hand crossed till I get a taste of the game myself.

Initially, Sony had announced that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor would come with PS5 Pro compatibility at its launch, and now, Respawn Entertainment has disclosed the improvements it will bring. Both Quality and Performance modes gain from higher starting resolutions; while Quality Mode maintains 4K resolution and ray tracing but renders at 2160p (up from 1800p), Performance Mode offers a smoother gameplay experience.

This version has ray-traced ambient occlusion and reflections that run smoothly at 60 frames per second. Interestingly, its original resolution has been boosted from 1200p to an upscaled 1800p, providing a balance between high graphical quality and smooth gameplay. Naturally, it’s essential for players to test it out themselves to judge the consistency of the performance.

The game titled “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” can be played on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Alongside its predecessor “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order“, it has amassed over 40 million players as of September 2024. You can read our review for it here. At present, a sequel is being developed that is said to be the concluding part of the action-adventure series. Keep an eye out for more information in the coming days.
