As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can confidently say that Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Season 1 is shaping up to be a game-changer for the franchise. The sheer volume of new content and improvements on offer is nothing short of staggering. From the enticing array of fresh maps and weapons, to the long-awaited return of fan favorites like Hacienda and Prop Hunt, there’s something here for every CoD enthusiast.
The sixth installment of Call of Duty: Black Ops is receiving a significant upgrade with the arrival of Season 1. Fans have been overwhelmingly positive about the game, breaking Game Pass records in merely 24 hours. Now, some of the frequently reported issues are being tackled immediately. The new maps, modes, and the yearly integration into Warzone mark only the beginning for one of the franchise’s largest updates ever made.
For multiplayer enthusiasts, you’ll find five fresh maps and seven additional weapons to explore across the upcoming season. Starting off are the maps Hideout, Extraction, and Heirloom, which will be accessible at launch. The well-loved Black Ops 4 map, Hacienda, is set to arrive later in the season, along with another unveiled map. Additionally, Nuketown will receive a festive makeover during the holiday season.
Regarding our weapon selection, we have five key firearms: the Krig-C, Saug SMG, AMR Mod 4 Sniper, Maelstrom shotgun, and Sirin 9mm sidearm. Two new melee weapons, the Cleaver and Power Drill, will also be added to our arsenal.
Season 1 will introduce the fresh Ransack game mode, which shares a resemblance with Black Ops 3’s Fracture. In this mode, players engage in a battle over scattered gold caches across the map, with the goal of accumulating loot and returning it to their base for protection. To add an extra layer of strategy, teams can also raid each other’s stockpiles, making the art of striking a balance between offense and defense crucial. Additionally, Prop Hunt will make its comeback in this update, infusing a dash of hide-and-seek into the gameplay.
Starting November 21st, the Ranked Play mode will launch, featuring several enhancements over its earlier versions. Players can now veto maps, quit games that seem unwinnable, and form teams of four regardless of rank. Nevertheless, there are rank limitations for duos and trios.
Season 1 is equally generous to Zombies players. Not only will Terminus and Liberty Falls receive guided modes to help casual players experience the story beats of these new maps without the hassle of figuring it all out for themselves, but a new battleground set on the eventual Warzone map Avalon will debut in-season. Named “Citadelle des Morts,” the map will feature the Terminus team following the breadcrumbs to an abandoned castle filled with nightmarish creatures.
Players of Warzone won’t be left in the cold either. The new Area 99 Resurgence map will debut in Season 1, incorporating Urzikstan, Rebirth Island, and the BO6 integration era simultaneously. Additionally, Battle Royale Ranked Play is planned for Season 1, following a year where Resurgence Ranked was the only competitive option available. Furthermore, loadouts are undergoing their most significant overhaul since Modern Warfare II. This includes a new perk selection system, dedicated melee weapons, and a general user interface revamp, resulting in a complete transformation from the previous setup.
Beyond what’s already there, the introduction of Black Ops 6 weapons and Omnimovement, not to mention the Meat Shield tactic, will give the game a fresh, revamped sensation. The first season kicks off on November 14th.
