As a seasoned observer of the royal family, I must say that the past few weeks have been a whirlwind of events, each more intriguing than the last. From the Duchess of York’s health scares to the birth of the newest addition to the Luxembourg royal family, it seems the monarchies are as vibrant and dynamic as ever.
Prince William is sharing some personal reflections on this past year.
As an ardent admirer, I’ve been closely following the inspiring stories of my beloved royal family. In a poignant reflection, The Prince of Wales shared insights from personally observing the health battles faced by none other than his extraordinary wife, Kate Middleton, and his father, the esteemed King Charles III, both of whom bravely disclosed their cancer diagnoses in 2024.
William shared with reporters after his recent trip to Cape Town, South Africa (Nov 7, as reported by BBC), that it had been a particularly challenging year for him, perhaps the toughest he’s faced.
The 42-year-old also noted that juggling his royal duties and family responsibilities has been challenging, adding, “Trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult.”
Indeed, I, a heartfelt admirer, find myself compelled to express my appreciation for none other than William himself—father to the remarkable trio: Prince George (11), Princess Charlotte (9), and young Prince Louis (6). Not only did he acknowledge the unwavering resilience of his own parents, King and Queen Consort of Wales, during challenging times, but he also commended their strength. A truly touching gesture that underscores the bond within the royal family.
He went on to express how proud he is of both his wife and father, acknowledging their accomplishments. However, speaking from a personal family perspective, he admitted that the situation has been incredibly challenging.
Although William stated that both his wife and father are in good health – with Kate finishing her chemotherapy treatments in September and Charles resuming public engagements in April – it’s important to note that he refuted the suggestion of taking any time off for relaxation during his trip to South Africa.
“I couldn’t be less relaxed this year,” he said, “so it’s very interesting you’re all seeing that.”
Despite the stress of balancing his work and family, William is determined to power through.
He continued, “It’s essentially about persevering and not stopping. I find pleasure in what I do, and I make certain to set aside time for my loved ones as well.
Occasionally, those precious moments with my loved ones include a bit of friendly ribbing, and boy, does it seem like I’m not immune! My little ones sure do love poking fun at me, and it’s all good-natured banter, especially when it comes to something new – like the fabulous beard I unveiled in August.
He shared that Charlotte wasn’t fond of it initially when he had his facial. “The very first time, I cried,” he explained. “Since my first try resulted in tears, I decided to shave it off. Later, I regrew the facial hair. There was a moment where I hesitated and managed to persuade Charlotte that everything would be alright.

With great joy, we’ve learned that His Majesty The King has been made aware of this wonderful development, and both families are overjoyed by the news.
On September 9th, it was revealed that the Princess of Wales had finished her chemotherapy treatment following a diagnosis of an undisclosed type of cancer earlier in the year.
As I navigate my personal cancer journey, I can’t help but acknowledge its intricate, daunting, and uncertain nature, not just for me, but for those who care about me most. This experience has humbly shown me aspects of my own vulnerability that I never knew existed before, offering a fresh, enlightening viewpoint on life.
The monarch remarked, “Though I’ve completed chemotherapy, my journey towards complete healing and recovery is still lengthy. I need to take things one day at a time. Yet, I eagerly anticipate returning to work and participating in some public events in the upcoming months, provided that I can.

On May 13th, a moment that stirred quite a buzz among us devoted followers, King Charles III conferred upon his eldest son the esteemed role of Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps. The decision, however, was met with disagreement as it seemed many royal enthusiasts, including myself, felt this title would have been more fitting for Prince Harry, who’s not only trained but also served in that very military branch.
Three months after disclosing his cancer diagnosis, Buckingham Palace declared on April 26th that Prince Charles would resume his public engagements.
As the devoted partner, I had the honor of representing His Majesty King Charles III at the Royal Maundy Service on March 28th, thus becoming the first royal spouse to uphold this historic tradition.
On March 22, the Princess of Wales disclosed in a video statement that she had received a cancer diagnosis following an abdominal operation she had in January.
Initially, it seemed my health issue wasn’t cancerous. The surgery went well, she explained before mentioning that tests post-operation revealed cancer was indeed present. Consequently, her medical team suggested a regimen of preventive chemotherapy, and I am now embarking on the early stages of this treatment.
Following the removal of the photograph published by photo agencies after Kate’s abdominal surgery on March 10th, which was originally shared by Kensington Palace, the Princess of Wales spoke out to refute allegations that the image had been manipulated.
On March 11, she posted on Twitter: “Similar to many amateur photographers, I sometimes dabble in photo editing. I wish to apologize if the family photo we posted yesterday may have created any confusion. Here’s hoping everyone celebrating Mother’s Day had a wonderful day filled with joy. Sincerely, C.

During Kate’s recuperation process, Prince William rescheduled several of his commitments to provide support for his loved ones, which included their three kids: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Upon learning about Kate’s recent hospital stay, I felt compelled to share some insights. In a subsequent announcement, Buckingham Palace disclosed that Prince Charles has been seeking medical attention for a common condition among men of his age: an enlarged prostate. It serves as a gentle reminder that even the most regal individuals are not immune to health concerns we all face in our daily lives.
