After the incredible journey through feudal Japan presented by Ghost of Tsushima, the prospect of returning to that world, albeit 300 years later, is tantalizing. The promise of more control over Atsu’s story and unique experiences within an open-world format has me itching for my DualShock controller.

2025 will see the debut of Sucker Punch’s game, “Ghost of Yōtei“. The specific month for release is still undecided, but the first trailer certainly looks promising. As a sequel to “Ghost of Tsushima”, it takes place 300 years later and gives players greater control over protagonist Atsu’s journey. It also aims to enhance the open-world experience by offering more unique and engaging elements.
Although Sony’s software sales are robust, the company anticipates a dip in studio business sales and profits for the second half of fiscal year 2025 compared to the previous year. This decline is partly attributed to the success of “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” and “Helldivers 2”. However, they are confident that there’s continuous advancement in the creation of new games and enhancement of live service game operations.
Previously, the game titled “Concord” faced a disastrous reception, causing its removal from sales and the shuttering of Firewalk Studios. Currently, only two other games are under development: Bungie’s “Marathon,” which is set to broaden playtesting opportunities next year, and Haven Studios’ heist game, “Fairgame$.
