Blink Twice – DVD / BLU-RAY

As a cinephile with decades of movie-watching under my belt, let me tell you that “Blink Twice” is a captivating cinematic journey that left quite an impression on me. The film’s unique blend of romance, mystery, and suspense, set against the backdrop of a seemingly idyllic island, had me hooked from the very first scene.

Zoë Kravitz’s film “Blink Twice” marked her first directorial venture, and it was truly remarkable when it hit theaters at the close of summer 2024. You can now own a copy for your collection, as it is available for purchase on Blu-ray and DVD. Noteably, the Blu-ray edition can only be found at HMV retailers.

At a charity event, tech magnate Slater King (portrayed by Channing Tatum) encounters Frida, a cocktail server, and an instant connection sparks between them. He extends an invitation for her to join him and his companions on a lavish getaway at his private island paradise. Days blur into nights filled with fun and merriment, leaving everyone reluctant to leave. However, as odd occurrences begin to transpire, Frida becomes suspicious of the island’s true nature. She must unveil the secrets hidden within if she hopes to escape this seemingly endless party safely. Check out our review HERE

Stars Naomi Ackie (“I Wanna Dance with Somebody”), Channing Tatum (“Magic Mike’s Last Dance”), Christian Slater (“Unfrosted”), Simon Rex (“Red Rocket”), Adria Arjona (“Hit Man”), Kyle MacLachlan (“Inside Out 2”), Haley Joel Osment (“The Sixth Sense”), Geena Davis (“Thelma & Louise”), Alia Shawkat (from “Arrested Development”) shine in this production.

The film earned a respectable $46m worldwide and saw Channing Tatum in a rare bad guy role that proved he’s as good as playing those type of role as he is at light comedy. The film also showed that Kravitiz is arguably better behind the camera than she is in front. With it now on release here’s a full list of the bonus features:

Indeed, you’re correct. It’s simply a basic release, lacking even a trailer, which seems quite bare for Kravitz’s first appearance. Having a director’s commentary would have been much more enriching. Unfortunately, what we get on both the Blink Twice DVD and Blu-ray are just the films themselves. While the movies are good, when there’s nothing else on the disc, it makes the home entertainment release underwhelming.
