Kevin Feige Confirms Miles Morales MCU Plans (And Reveals When He’ll Debut)

As a lifelong Marvel enthusiast who has followed the web-slinging adventures of Spider-Man since the days of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard about Kevin Feige’s recent update on Miles Morales joining the MCU. The prospect of seeing this dynamic character leap from the pages of comics to the big screen is simply thrilling!

At D23 Brazil today, Marvel is set to share additional insights about the upcoming plans for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, before the panel, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige disclosed some tantalizing details about the future of the MCU in an interview with Omelete. When asked about the progress of a live-action Miles Morales, who has so far only appeared on the big screen in Spider-Verse films, Feige provided updates on their plans to introduce Miles not just to live-action, but also officially into the MCU.

Regarding your query about Miles’ role within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Feige mentioned that we’ll see Miles in the upcoming third Spider-Verse movie, which is currently being filmed. He anticipates that shortly after this, Miles will make his live-action debut in the MCU.

It’s fantastic news for Spider-Man fans, as this suggests there’s only one more movie left before Miles Morales enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Typically, the situation would be even more exciting because the third installment in the Spider-Verse series, tentatively named “Beyond the Spider-Verse,” is already under production. However, it might take some time before we finally get to watch this film on the big screen.

Beyond The Spider-Verse…When?

The sequel to the trilogy, “Across the Spider-Verse,” came out last year, so it’s still a while before we see the third movie in theaters, considering the amount of effort required to create its stunning animation. There have been whispers about challenges during production, but the latest word from Producer Chris Miller seems to dispel some of those concerns.

The gossip implied that the movie was being pushed back until 2027 because of a major creative change, but Miller dismissed this and stated that everything is running smoothly in production. Miller posted on X, “Nothing has been abandoned. Things are progressing well.” Similarly, Spider-Verse Composer Daniel Pemberton commented on the rumor, saying, “I rarely comment on such matters, but have you ever thought there could be things online that aren’t always accurate?

Although details about the third movie are scarce, actor Jake Johnson, who plays Peter B. Parker, has offered some tantalizing hints about what’s in store and the efforts being made to ensure it lives up to the quality of the previous two films. Here’s a promise he made, which he also made for the second film during production: Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and the other producers will be involved, along with new directors they’ll bring in. Just like what happened with the first movie, all the directors will become executive producers, so they’ll keep building upon it. Johnson shared this information with ComicBook.

Johnson assured that they will continue working tirelessly until the final product is nothing short of exceptional. If this means taking a bit longer, making it even larger or extending its duration, they don’t follow anyone else’s timeline. They put in a lot of effort and as participants, we are often surprised by the last-minute calls for recording sessions. He believes in their dedication and although he can’t reveal any details about the story, he has full trust in them.

Future In The MCU

Regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Tom Holland has been hinting at major developments for Spider-Man 4, yet it’s uncertain how long he wishes to play Peter Parker. Introducing Miles Morales into the MCU could offer Marvel Studios and Holland a solution, as they could either have Miles take over as the main Spider-Man or share the role in movies where they coexist in the universe. This would provide more flexibility and potentially happen sooner rather than later. Incorporating Miles Morales would be beneficial for the MCU, as it would bring this cherished character to life on screen.

Beyond the Spider-Verse currently has no release date.
