As a long-time Nintendo enthusiast who has spent countless hours navigating through the vibrant worlds of GameCube games, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the prospect of these beloved titles making their way to Nintendo Switch Online. The hints and speculations about potential GameCube controller production are certainly intriguing, and I can’t help but reminisce about the countless hours spent perfecting my Mario Kart: Double Dash!! drifting skills or strategizing in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Following the integration of N64 games, enthusiasts of Nintendo are eagerly anticipating the inclusion of GameCube games in the Nintendo Switch Online service. At present, there’s no confirmed news about the sixth-generation Nintendo console being incorporated into the Nintendo Switch Online game collection; however, certain hints from behind the scenes at Nintendo may indicate that this situation could shift quite rapidly.
Exploring shipment details, RandomlyRandom67 (through Famiboards) mentions that Nintendo seems to be actively manufacturing a Nintendo GameCube controller. This production activity suggests that Nintendo might plan on offering GameCube games as part of the Nintendo Switch Online service.
The cause of this conjecture stems from the arrival of TRW1230 rumble motors in recent deliveries, which are thought to be associated with project HGU0480, as it’s suspected to involve control mechanisms.
The connection between this and the GameCube lies in the fact that TRW1230 is utilized by GameCube controllers, and it’s also used in the latest re-release of N64 controllers, which Nintendo introduced simultaneously with N64 games becoming available on Nintendo Switch Online.
At present, we’re merely guessing, but for quite some time, it’s been speculated that the Nintendo Switch Online service might eventually include GameCube games. The question has always been when, and while the answer to that still eludes us, recent developments have stirred excitement among Nintendo enthusiasts, suggesting an announcement could be imminent.
Regrettably, it appears that none of this may become reality this year, with the holiday season approaching quickly. However, there’s a chance Nintendo might release it quite soon for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and later Christmas, but it seems improbable given the tight schedule. A more reasonable expectation is that it will occur sometime in 2025, likely during the early part of the year.
Everything here should, of course, be taken with a grain of salt. Right now all we have is rumor and speculation. So far, Nintendo has not commented on any of it, and we do not suspect this will change, but if it does, we will be sure to update the story accordingly.
