As a seasoned country music singer and a fan of Marvel comics, Reba McEntire seems to have found the perfect blend of her passion and her dreams by expressing a desire to play a Marvel character. With her vibrant personality and versatile acting skills, she could easily bring a unique charm to any role she takes on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
When Reba McEntire says she wants to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we stand up and listen. Several actors have lobbied to be the next star of the MCU, but most fans wouldn’t think of the Happy Place star as someone who would be interested in a comic book role. The multi-talented McEntire has the singing and acting chops to chew up any scene she’s in, so it’s only a matter of what characters she’d have the most fun portraying. From well-established Marvel characters to lesser known ones, there’s a world of possibilities open for McEntire. And if she were to ask our advice, we’ve compiled a list of 10 characters she can play in the MCU.
We’ve created a list of Marvel characters suitable for Reba McEntire, ranging from those seen on TV streaming platforms to blockbuster movies in cinemas. The exciting aspect of casting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is that we’re accustomed to surprises. McEntire has expressed her desire for a power to communicate with animals, but instead, let’s think creatively and explore the most captivating characters for the “Country Music Queen.
Nightmare
In your deepest nightmares, it’s often Nightmare who is responsible. This malevolent entity prowls the Dream Realm, thriving on the apprehensions and terrors that occur during sleep. Not only does Nightmare prey upon these feelings, but he also manipulates dreams, distorting them for his benefit as he drains their psychological strength. Known as the Fear Lord, this menacing figure has clashed with Doctor Strange on multiple occasions, yet he poses a significant challenge even to the Avengers. In the current comic series by Jed MacKay, Nightmare has engaged in battle with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
It’s possible that Marvel Studios might need to reimagine the character for Reba McEntire to play Nightmare, yet the idea of McEntire portraying a supernatural menace hidden in the darkness is quite intriguing.
Morgan Le Fay
Speaking of supernatural, with Robert Downey Jr. set for an MCU return as Doctor Doom, there’s no better time than now to cast Morgan Le Fay. The centuries-old sorceress has connections to the Darkhold and Doctor Doom, even becoming a lover of Victor Von Doom. The Darkhold is what turned Wanda Maximoff into a villain in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, so there’s some plot elements for Reba McEntire to play with there. We could also see sparks fly between Morgan Le Fay and Doctor Doom if she were to appear in Avengers: Doomsday.
As Agatha All Along reaches its conclusion and Ghost Agatha and Billy set off to find Tommy, there’s an opportunity for Tracy McEntire’s character, Morgan Le Fay, to step into the role of the main antagonistic witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One appealing aspect of casting McEntire as Morgan Le Fay is that her character could potentially appear in either a Disney+ series or a theatrical production.
Amora / Enchantress
You might assume we’re overdoing it with the sorcerer theme, but let me explain. Although Sophia Di Martino portrayed Amora’s Enchantress on Loki, there’s still an opportunity for this character to make a significant debut in the MCU. The Enchantress has been a persistent troublemaker for Thor, accompanying him from Asgard to Earth and causing chaos wherever she goes. Currently, she’s deeply entangled in an intriguing storyline unfolding in The Immortal Thor. Here, Enchantress orchestrated the murder of Dario Agger, owner of Roxxon, with Thor being falsely accused. Agger’s absence has created a vacancy in Roxxon that Enchantress is now exploiting.
Chris Hemsworth has expressed a willingness to continue playing Thor, and there’s a possibility that Enchantress could be an upcoming villain. If Michelle Pfeiffer is interested, she could take on the role of Enchantress in future movies.
Sister Margaret Grace Murdock
The upcoming series, “Daredevil: Born Again,” marks the return of the Man Without Fear since his Netflix run ended. The third season of “Daredevil” was influenced by the “Born Again” comic storyline and introduced viewers to Sister Maggie Grace (Joanne Whalley), who aided Matt Murdock in recovery after the events in “The Defenders.” It’s later revealed that Sister Maggie is actually Matt’s mother. Marvel may choose to have Joanne Whalley reprise her role as Sister Maggie in “Daredevil: Born Again,” but there’s speculation about them recasting with Reba McEntire, bringing her star power into the mix.
Sister Maggie Grace’s part is relatively smaller compared to some other roles we’ve discussed, but it doesn’t automatically mean this is a drawback. Street-level shows from Marvel have attracted big names like Sigourney Weaver who played a villain in The Defenders, demonstrating that even small roles can be significant.
Abigail Brand
Instead of waiting for the X-Men’s arrival, let’s begin the search for an actor to portray Abigail Brand, a character that could introduce a cosmic element to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Although Abigail Brand might not be a favorite among X-Men enthusiasts, she offers a unique perspective on the cosmic aspects of the MCU. Brand is a half-human, half-alien character who leads S.W.O.R.D., an organization that serves as Earth’s final defense against extraterrestrial threats. Previously, we’ve seen S.W.O.R.D. in action during WandaVision, and S.A.B.E.R. shares a similar role. However, McEntire could bring the green-haired mutant to life, attracting more attention to the X-Men franchise due to their casting.
Isabella Carmela Magdalena “Ma” Gnucci
As a follower, I’m thrilled about The Punisher’s comeback in “Daredevil: Born Again,” which seems to be rapidly expanding the street-level realm of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it remains uncertain if The Punisher will get another solo series, the prospect is intriguing, especially considering Reba McEntire as a potential cast for Isabella Carmella Magdalena “Ma” Gnucci. Ma is the influential matriarch of the powerful Gnucci Crime Family, making her a prime target for The Punisher’s relentless pursuit. What sets Ma apart is her unique physical condition; she lost both her arms and legs at the hands (or paws rather) of The Punisher when he fed her to polar bears in Central Park Zoo.
Opportunities exist for Marvel to expand its street-level universe, and introducing mafia crime families could be a straightforward approach. Watching Reba McEntire engage in heated conflicts with Jon Bernthal’s Punisher would certainly make ticket purchases worthwhile.
Nova Corps Leader
In the thrilling build-up to “Avengers: Infinity War,” I can’t help but reflect on how ruthlessly Thanos ravaged Xandar and the valiant Nova Corps. For now, their fate hangs in a precarious balance, uncertain and shrouded in mystery. Glenn Close portrayed Irani Rael, the Nova Prime, in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” but whether she survived Thanos’ wrath remains to be seen. If, by some miracle, the Nova Corps rise again, I believe Reba McEntire could make an exceptional leader for them.
McEntire might find this character role rather straightforward and less strenuous compared to certain others. She could portray a stoic, commanding presence even in a Nova Corps uniform, thereby experiencing the thrill of embodying a Marvel superhero.
Francis Ketch
There’s been discussion about which Ghost Rider character should join the Marvel Cinematic Universe next, with Johnny Blaze, Danny Ketch, and Robbie Reyes being the top contenders. One appealing aspect of the Ghost Rider franchise is that any of these characters could potentially make an appearance and even team up together. In a smaller role, there’s an opportunity for Reba McEntire to portray Danny Ketch’s adoptive mother, Francis Ketch. However, due to her busy schedule with NBC’s Happy Place, she might only be available for minor roles.
Mary Parker
If you hadn’t heard, Spider-Man 4 is currently in development, with Tom Holland confirming filming is scheduled to start next summer. Peter Parker lost his Aunt May in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and we know his parents died when he was very young. However, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures haven’t shown us Peter’s parents ever since the two studios decided to collaborate. Of course, it would have to be in flashbacks, but something tells us Reba McEntire as Mary Parker is the kind of casting that would land with audiences.
The “Spider-Man” films featured Richard and Mary Parker in flashbacks, with Embeth Davidtz portraying the character. As a new chapter unfolds for Spider-Man, why not introduce more fresh talent like Reba McEntire? Comic enthusiasts have also enjoyed following the adventures of Richard and Mary Parker as agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Mephisto
In case you were expecting us to skip over the chance to speculate about who might play Mephisto in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, think again! Ever since we discussed Reba McEntire’s interest in portraying a Marvel character, there’s been a growing buzz about bringing the Devil to life within the MCU.
