As a die-hard fan who has followed Blake Shelton‘s career from his humble beginnings to becoming a country music legend, this latest announcement has me jumping for joy! The man who brought us “Honey Bee” and “God’s Country,” is now embarking on a new journey with “The Road.
Blake Shelton is returning to reality TV.
Approximately half a year following his departure from “The Voice,” the nation’s favorite singer revealed plans to launch a new singing competition show titled “The Road” (tentative name), set to premiere on CBS in the upcoming year.
Produced by Yellowstone creator Tyler Sheridan, together with Lee Metzger and David Glasser, this upcoming documentary series follows an established music superstar as they seek out rising talent. The series will see singers performing as opening acts at various venues nationwide, competing to win over local audiences and secure a place in the next city on the tour. This is based on the network’s press release from November 11th.
And Shelton couldn’t be more eager to discover new artists.
I’m really enthusiastic about Taylor’s outstanding work, and I can’t wait to work alongside him and my long-time partner, Lee, on ‘The Road.’ With my experience in singing contests and pursuing a music career while touring, I’m eager to find fresh talent and offer them this opportunity.” The 48-year-old shared in a statement.
Sheridan elaborated on the series’ innovative format.
He stated, “A significant change is occurring within country music.” Collaborating with Blake on a platform for the future pioneers of this transformation is an incredibly thrilling opportunity. No longer about polished stages and studio audiences. This is where real-life action happens – literally. Hop in the van, travel to the next town, and captivate the crowd. Repeat that enough times, and you’ll become one of the leaders yourself.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that CBS offers an unparalleled opportunity with The Road, taking us backstage for a raw and relentless glimpse into the life of a touring artist. We’ll gain unprecedented access to the inner workings of the music industry, witnessing the struggles and triumphs of rising stars as they cram onto a tour bus and brave a grueling itinerary in pursuit of their dreams.
The Road is set to debut in fall 2025.
Six months on, Shelton embarks on a new project, following the emotional farewell from ‘The Voice’ fans when his last episode on the NBC show was aired in May.
In an interview with TopMob News in April, Shelton expressed, “After completing 23 seasons of the series, I truly enjoyed every moment of it. By the final season, though, it felt like the right time for me to move on.
At that moment, the performer known as “God’s Country” also stated he had no intention of reclaiming his seat in the rotating red chair.
He clarified, “I don’t want you to misunderstand, I still consider myself part of our family. However, my time as a coach on ‘The Voice’ holds a special place in my life. Yet, regarding returning to that role, I must admit that I’m not certain if I’d be ready for it again at this moment.
