Marvel’s What If Season 3 Reveals A Major X-Men Crossover With Storm Goddess of Thunder

Marvel’s What If Season 3 Reveals A Major X-Men Crossover With Storm Goddess of Thunder

As a die-hard Marvel fan who grew up reading comics and watching movies since the early days of X-Men and Avengers, I must say that the latest announcement about Storm Goddess of Thunder in What If…? Season 3 is nothing short of exhilarating! The fusion of Storm’s iconic powers with Thor’s divine aspect sounds like a match made in Valhalla itself.

The first trailer for Marvel’s What If…? Season 3 has been released, and just like with many previews from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the ending has got fans talking. This is due to an episode in Season 3 that seems to show a crisis from another dimension reaching Earth, which appears too overwhelming for heroes like Kahhori (Devery Jacobs) to handle on their own. In this reality, they summon the heavy hitters – a powerful combination of deity and mutant abilities at the highest level!

What If…? Introduces Storm Goddess of Thunder to the MCU

As a gamer, I’m totally hyped about the new character in “What If…? Season 3” – Storm Goddess of Thunder! Alison Sealy-Smith, who voiced X-Men ’97 Storm, brings this powerhouse to life. The design is stunning, with a blend of Asgardian armor and weather powers that make her look like an unstoppable force. Wielding the hammer alongside her elemental might, she’s going to be a formidable addition to the Marvel universe!

Storm Goddess of Thunder is Based on Comic Book Lore

Marvel’s What If Season 3 Reveals A Major X-Men Crossover With Storm Goddess of Thunder

In 1985, Marvel Comics established an established connection between Thor and Storm in the X-Men Annual vol. 19. During this time, Storm received the hammer Stormcaster from Loki, which granted her divine power but came with Loki’s manipulative control. Eventually, Storm decided to relinquish her hammer, rejecting Loki’s influence.

In various storylines throughout the years, the enigmatic artifact Stormcaster has intermittently granted Storm divine power boosts; however, it was seemingly annihilated permanently when Storm employed it to fight and vanquish the Dark Deity Uovu, liberating her Kenyan village during an X-Men saga in the late 2010s.

This Easter egg in Marvel’s What If…? animated series perfectly captures the essence of what they’re doing right. The intriguing crossover link between the X-Men and the MCU is bound to grab the attention of mainstream fans, as Marvel Studios subtly introduces X-Men crossovers, mutant references, and more into the MCU, hinting at the upcoming official introduction of the X-Men. For devoted comic book fans, this Easter egg provides a delightful tribute to Storm’s past connections with Asgard and its enigmatic weapons.
