As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, let me tell you that the latest update for Sea of Stars has left me absolutely spellbound! I’ve been through countless RPGs, and this one truly stands out. The three-player co-op feature alone is enough to make any retro RPG lover like myself jump with joy.
After its release last year, “Sea of Stars” was often praised as one of the top retro RPGs in recent times. However, developers at Sabotage Studio aren’t finished with the game just yet. The Dawn of Equinox update, which was previously announced for the game, is now live, introducing a variety of new features and enhancements.
Despite being free for everyone, this update is quite substantial in size. One of its key features is the introduction of three-player cooperative gameplay, allowing up to three players to play together locally as distinct characters. The update also includes a Speedrunner Mode (using a new Relic), various difficulty settings, a fresh cutscene, and an overhauled and extended prologue sequence.
Simultaneously, some modifications in combat have been made as well. For instance, a novel feature called Mystery Locks has been incorporated, adjustments to Combo Points, testing damage types to reveal locks, the ability to initiate certain battles differently, and much more. For further insights, watch the trailer below.
The game “Sea of Stars” can be played on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers. Additionally, a complimentary expansion named “Throes of the Watchmaker” is scheduled for release next year.
