WWE Reveals First NXT Iron Survivor Challenge Qualifiers

As a lifelong wrestling fan who’s seen more matches than I can count, I must say that NXT’s Iron Survivor Challenge is shaping up to be quite the spectacle! The qualifying matches last night were nothing short of thrilling, especially the Women’s and Men’s bouts between Cora Jade vs Sol Ruca, Wes Lee vs. Cedric Alexander, and Je’Von Evans vs. Lexis King.

As a gamer eagerly awaiting WWE NXT Deadline, I’m pumped that they’re reintroducing the Iron Survivor Challenge! With December just around the corner, tonight’s NXT kick-started the qualifying matches for both the Women’s and Men’s Iron Survivor Challenges. In the first round, we had Cora Jade battling it out against Sol Ruca, Wes Lee going head-to-head with Cedric Alexander, and Je’Von Evans facing off against Lexis King. Though there are still 7 spots left to be filled for the final matches at Deadline, tonight’s action has given us our first contenders! If you want the lowdown on each match and their respective winners, check it out below!

Women’s Match 1: Sol Ruca vs Cora Jade

From the get-go, I’d been needling Ruca, and she’d respond by chanting her name. I landed my first punch, but ducked just in time to avoid a kick straight to my mug. I retaliated with a bit of taunting myself, then slammed her hard onto her face, riding the impact like a wave before delivering a crushing kick to her visage. Jade countered with a knee strike and followed up with a brutal double stomp on my back, trying for a pin but I managed to kick out at the last second.

In this match, Jade maintained dominance by cornering Ruca with swift kicks and heavy stomps. Then, she choked Ruca near the ropes before delivering a powerful running elbow strike to the back of her head followed by an attempt at pinning her down, but Ruca managed to kick free. The two wrestlers exchanged blows, but Ruca retaliated with a series of crossbody attacks and a kick aimed at Jade’s head.

Unfortunately for Jade, she blocked a DDT, but ended up colliding her knee with the turnbuckle as Ruca deftly dodged. Not much later, Jae capitalized with a Sol Snatcher in the corner, which was enough to secure entry and the victory. Now, Ruca stands as the initial superstar in this match, and four more contenders are eagerly waiting for their chance.

Men’s Match 1: Cedric Alexander vs. Wes Lee

Initially, Alexander landed the first two blows, and despite Lee’s efforts to counter, Alexander maintained dominance in the early stages. However, Lee managed to shift the momentum by tripping up Alexander and sending him crashing to the mat. Regrettably for Lee, this change didn’t persist. Instead, Alexander retaliated with numerous kicks to the chest followed by a powerful chop that brought Lee tumbling down onto the floor.

After attempting a daring maneuver over the ropes, I stumbled instead, taking a harsh tumble to the floor. During the break, Lee seized control of the game, but I quickly regained momentum, delivering a kick to Lee’s midsection and another that pushed him towards the corner. Then, I clotheslined Lee onto the ring apron, followed by a springboard flatliner and a cover move. Unfortunately, Lee managed to kick out before the count of three.

In quick succession, Lee executed a superkick, a kick to the leg, followed by a cardiac kick. Remarkably, Alexander managed to kick out after this powerful series of moves. Earlier, Lee had removed the cover from the turnbuckle, but Alexander countered with a massive move, pinning Lee, though Lee was able to kick out again. Subsequently, Alexander was slammed into the exposed ring post, and Lee seized the opportunity, pinning him down and securing the initial position in the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge by applying a submission hold.

Men’s Match 2: Je’Von Evans vs. Lexis King

King attempted a brief wrestling move, but Evans responded with one as well. King managed to free himself from the grip using a kick to the head, and then Evans took King down for another pin attempt. However, King retaliated with some ingenious counters in the following exchange, resulting in a standoff.

As a passionate fan, I witnessed a thrilling moment in the fight: King took a hard fall when Evans delivered a powerful blow, sending him to the mat. In a split second, Evans leaped out of the ring, colliding with meekly King on the outside. Evans attempted an aerial maneuver, but King cleverly dodged and retaliated with what seemed like a headbutt – turns out, it was a sneaky low blow. Despite this unexpected move, King chose to maintain sportsmanship and didn’t pin Evans. Showing great resilience, Evans swiftly got back on his feet.

In simpler terms, during their wrestling match, Evans knocked down King with a powerful slam, followed by a suplex. However, King managed to survive even after being covered for 2.5 counts. Evans tried another move from the top, but missed and received a kick to the jaw. King attempted a cover, but Evans survived. They engaged in a series of forearm strikes and kicks, with both wrestlers taking turns. Despite Evans’s second attempt at his big splash move, King still managed to survive. King retaliated with a backstabber and a slam, but again, Evans avoided defeat. King then took a kick to the face, but Evans capitalized by hitting another splash and winning the match, qualifying for the Iron Survivor Challenge.
