As a seasoned gamer with countless hours clocked in various MMORPGs, let me share my insights on how to navigate Brave Souls: Empyrean Exodus’s early stages. First and foremost, focus on grinding enemy mobs for experience points. This low-effort, high-reward activity is a great way to level up your combat skills while also earning some coins along the way.
Brighter Shores, currently under development by one of the original pioneers of RuneScape, showcases a considerable amount of repetitive tasks, which bear a strong resemblance to the game that has undeniably influenced it. At this stage in its development, the grinding process is quite monotonous with limited options for character advancement.
To help make the process more manageable and watch your progress accelerate, here are some suggestions that should give you a slight boost. Keep in mind, though, that these tips are primarily aimed at those who are new to the game, as there are numerous aspects to take into account when trying to advance swiftly.
How to Level Up Fast
To begin with, it’s essential to understand that many techniques for “swift” or “rapid” character progression primarily focus on engaging in the speediest activities available and subsequently directing experience points towards your preferred profession.
If you’re new to this game and haven’t played much yet, you might not fully understand or value this feature right away. However, it truly becomes beneficial once your character reaches level 20 in any profession. In essence, it only functions once your character hits level 20 for the first time.
Besides enabling you to discover hidden techniques for gradual character advancement, knowledge also offers the opportunity to invest in either a modest amount of currency or a substantial piece of experience, which mildly escalates with the level of your chosen profession.
How Does Knowledge Work?
It’s not clear how exactly one acquires these ‘knowledge points’, but it appears that they are primarily dependent on actions, rather than receiving them as direct experiences. Generally speaking, engaging in any vocation will eventually lead to the accumulation of a ‘knowledge point’.
Since they aren’t meant for storage, as soon as you obtain them, you’ll need to use them right away if you aim for efficiency. If you choose not to, the game will continually display the knowledge point interface whenever an EXP drop occurs, which can become quite irritating rather swiftly.
At present, all we possess are theories, yet there’s a widespread agreement that enhancing combat skills appears to be among the most effective methods for boosting your knowledge gauge. Extensive trials remain necessary, but from my own observations up to this point, I’d like to share a brief comparison I found while writing this:
- Using pine logs to level up carpentry results in just under 1% progress towards the next knowledge point, with around two actions required for visible progress.
- Training the guard profession against ghouls that are several levels below me gives 3% progress per kill. These kills go by fast due to the level gap.
It’s hard to definitively say which is faster, but there’s no argument that combat training feels more cost-effective since it doesn’t require any resources. Plus, you have an opportunity to earn money by selling the loot you acquire from each kill at the quartermaster.
Based on the enemies you’re focusing on, you might occasionally receive Experience Boost Potions as loot. For instance, occasionally the thieves in Hopeport drop a 5% bonus XP potion for me. These potions enhance your leveling speed, but their effect is limited to professions within the initial region only.
Keep track of your progress towards the next stage by navigating to the options in the menu located at the top right corner of the screen, which is dedicated to professions.
Where to Spend Knowledge Points?
The way you decide to employ your “knowledge points” is really a matter of individual choice. In my opinion, the most effective usage would primarily revolve around the occupations required for the next task or mission at hand.
For example, while writing the first half of this guide, I was still inching towards the level 32 carpentry requirement for the Storage Rift quest. As such, all of my knowledge points went towards that profession, as it provided thousands of experience per drop. In the long run, this also saves you from spending too much time or money on gathering/buying resources.
Picking Money Over Experience
An argument could be made for spending knowledge points on the silver option. If you are still in the process of getting level 20 in other professions, getting the money to buy tools and resources might be more helpful to you.
As a gamer, when I’m all about grinding enemy mobs because it offers low effort with high rewards, I tend to invest the points into combat skills for that particular region, especially when I can’t decide where to put them. Plus, combat is a reliable source of income, even if gear drops aren’t coming my way.
Hitting 20s Across the Board
One quick objective to consider is to reach level 20 in all professions swiftly whenever you enter a new zone. If you’re a free player, you only need to focus on developing professions in approximately two regions, but for those with a premium pass, there’s significantly more to train.
To reach level 20 initially, it’s beneficial because afterwards you can primarily concentrate on honing your combat skills and allocating your points to expedite the growth of other aspects, all while raking in a substantial income. Notably, the EXP barrier for advancing to the next level escalates considerably at level 20, making it even more crucial to amass knowledge points swiftly.
In simple terms, since the game is still in its early stages, there’s no pressing need for you to play beyond what the quests ask right now, unless you’re aiming for a personal achievement or are particularly drawn to those skill capes. So, feel free to relax and engage in the activities that bring you the most joy.
Due to the continuous updates being made to the game, it’s quite possible that the method of progression might evolve over time. Therefore, it would be wise to keep track of any update announcements, as the creators could potentially rearrange numbers or adjust strategies if they find some methods too “exploitable” at the moment.
