As a long-time fan of Attack on Titan, I must say that watching The Last Attack was like reliving my childhood all over again. The movie’s box office success in Japan just reaffirms the power and influence of anime worldwide. It’s amazing to see how a series that started as a manga has grown into a global phenomenon, outperforming even Hollywood blockbusters!
The news has been buzzing about “Attack on Titan: The Final Battle.” Apart from being the inaugural and possibly concluding film of the violent anime series, this latest movie introduces a fresh scene to the anime’s storyline. In anticipation of its release in Japan, “The Final Battle” has been hyped with new footage that will be incorporated into the compilation film as a new post-credits scene. Even though some anime enthusiasts may have already watched the final episodes of the TV show that form this movie, it hasn’t hindered cinema-goers from propelling “Attack on Titan: The Final Battle” to success at the box office.
In Japan, “Attack on Titan: The Last Attack” has unexpectedly dethroned “Venom: The Last Dance” as the top-grossing film, earning approximately $1.63 million USD. This may seem modest compared to Hollywood blockbusters, but given the nature of “The Last Attack,” it’s a commendable achievement. Interestingly, “Attack on Titan” managed to surpass not just “Venom: The Last Dance” and “Red One,” but also a fresh anime film released in cinemas. The latest Kamen Rider anime movie, titled “Fuuto Tantei: Kamen Rider Skull no Shozo,” landed at the number five spot, following closely behind “Attack on Titan’s” theatrical debut.
The Power of Anime Compilations
In the realm of popular anime adaptations, Attack on Titan joins the ranks of series like Demon Slayer, Dandadan, Dragon Ball Daimaoshuu, and others that have brought their most significant episodes to the big screen by combining previous installments. Regrettably, it’s not yet clear if The Last Attack will be screened in North America, despite its success as the top-grossing film in Japan. Here’s hoping we’ll get a chance to watch the Scout Regiment battle on the big screen over here.
Attack on Titan’s Post-Credits Scene
Previously noted, “The Last Attack” introduces a surprising post-credits scene that wasn’t anticipated by many anime enthusiasts. Unlike setting up a possible sequel for the series, this scene provides fans with a glimpse into an alternate universe where Armin, Mikasa, and Eren Jaeger are not engaged in the struggle for the world’s survival. Instead, they are seen watching “Attack on Titan: The Last Attack” and sharing their thoughts about the events depicted on screen.
In an intriguing twist, I found myself immersed in a different rendition of the brutal franchise “Attack on School Castes,” penned by Hajime Isayama. Instead of the Titans terrorizing our world, this alternate universe mirrors ours closely, with the Survey Corps living their lives as we do. Though no official word has been given about this spin-off becoming a series, I’m eagerly awaiting more adaptations from the manga, as there are still several segments waiting to be brought to life on screen.
In essence, the “Attack on Titan” series doesn’t seem to be expanding its storyline within its universe currently. Previously, creator Hajime Isayama has mentioned he won’t return for a full series, but might revisit if necessary. This year, however, Isayama did produce a short story titled “Attack on Titan: Bad Boy,” offering insights into Captain Levi’s early days before using his 3D maneuver gear. If Isayama decides to create another manga within this universe in the future, we at egmr.ru will certainly update you about it.
