As a die-hard fan of both “Mortal Kombat” and the iconic “Scream” franchise, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming arrival of Ghostface in “Mortal Kombat 1“. The latest gameplay trailer is a chilling delight, filled with nods to the Scream movies that had me cheering.
NetherRealm Studios has unveiled a fresh gameplay trailer for the upcoming addition to Mortal Kombat 1 – Ghostface. Previously, starting in September, NetherRealm started introducing characters for Kombat Pack 2 of MK1, with Sektor, Cyrax, and Noob Saibot all debuting simultaneously, hinting at more fighters on the horizon. Now, just days away from the DLC fighter’s arrival next week, Ghostface – a character from the Scream series – is set to join the roster, and he could be one of the most eccentric combatants in Mortal Kombat 1 yet!
As I dive into the gaming world, I can’t help but be thrilled about the recent three-minute sneak peek of Mortal Kombat 1. This trailer is all about Ghostface, and boy, does it deliver! We get an extensive look at their moveset, from the brutal X-Ray move to the chilling second fatality. Towards the end, there’s a hint of Ghostface’s animalistic nature, as they morph into a vulture in a gruesome finale, dispatching their enemy in a way that only Mortal Kombat can deliver.

It seems one of the standout aspects of Ghostface’s addition to Mortal Kombat 1 is the numerous references to the Scream film series that NetherRealm has incorporated. There are many cool Easter eggs related to Ghostface’s appearances across different Scream movies, not just in their fatalities but also in their general attacks. Much like previous Mortal Kombat characters based on iconic films, it’s evident that the team at NetherRealm holds a deep affection for Scream and aimed to create an authentic representation of Ghostface in MK1.
Ghostface, a new character, is scheduled to debut in Mortal Kombat 1 next week on November 19th across all platforms. Initially, this character will be available as “early access” for those who have already purchased the entire Kombat Pack 2. If you wish to buy Ghostface separately, it will be available a week later, on November 26th. Other characters from Kombat Pack 2, such as the T-1000 Terminator and Conan the Barbarian, are set to join Mortal Kombat 1 at a later date.
