An Unexpected Return

Previously, we discovered that Earth was under attack by the Beast Brigade from Gamma VII, and their forces swiftly overpowered us. It was then that Eltar intervened, but ultimately, they too became the oppressors, showing no allegiance to the Power Rangers. Now, the situation remains critical as the Rangers are either imprisoned, in hiding, or facing even greater perils. This story primarily focuses on Lauren Shiba, who is desperately attempting to elude their forces.

Following Lauren’s awakening, she encounters Orion – a roommate of Mark, the student who rescued her from a dumpster and thwarted Eltar security. Earlier, just before she wakes up, news broadcasts display on TV, showcasing how the VR Troopers, yes, the VR Troopers, have successfully disrupted a group of mutants and safeguarded a ski resort. The image below is shown.

Virtual Reality Troopers

If you’re not familiar, the VR Troopers were another superhero team produced by Saban Entertainment, who also created Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Like Power Rangers, VR Troopers was adapted with footage from various sources, including Uchuu Keiji Shaider, Jikuu Senshi Spielban, and Choujinki Metalder, which were part of Toei’s Metal Hero Series. The series aired from 1994 to 1996.

The show centered around three main characters: Ryan Steele, JB Reese, and Kaitlin Star. As their journey unfolded, they came across Professor Horatio Hart, a friend of Ryan’s father. He shared with them the mysteries hidden within the virtual reality dimension. This realm lay beyond our own, yet it had its own inhabitants who aimed to dominate not just this virtual world, but ours too – all under the command of the wicked Grimlord.

Originally, Ryan J.B., and Kaitlin were brought on board to combat Grimlord (disguised as Karl Ziktor in our realm) and safeguard both realms. They were equipped with armored suits, weapons, and vehicles when they took on their new personas. Despite the series lasting just two seasons before it was discontinued due to insufficient footage, it gained significant popularity. Could we one day witness their return in this world? We’ll have to wait and see.

Regarding the VR Troopers, it’s unclear if they fight on the same side or against it. At first glance, they appear to be an authorized superhero team, working under Eltarian supervision, unlike the Power Rangers who were constantly evading capture. However, there might be hidden actions by Eltar that the Troopers are unaware of. For now, we can only speculate about their role and wait for future events to unfold.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but notice the subtle nods to the classic costumes in these new renditions. My suit, for instance, is prominently displayed at the forefront of each panel, and it bears a striking resemblance to my original armor, albeit with a twist. Unlike before, where the armor was divided into red and blue halves, this version sports a bold split between red and black. If you look closely, you’ll also detect similarities in the designs of the other suits compared to their original counterparts, but they have undergone significant refinements overall.
