Pokemon TCG Pocket Adding New Cards and a Highly-Requested Feature

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Pokémon gaming under my belt, I must say that the latest addition to the franchise, the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, has truly captured my heart and sparked a sense of nostalgia. The announcement of new content coming within the next two months, including the long-awaited trading feature, is music to my ears.

The compact version of the Pokemon Trading Card Game, recently launched, is already making waves as a significant achievement. To sustain such popularity, games require continuous updates, and it seems that’s precisely what’s being planned. In a communique to their community, The Pokemon Company has disclosed some tantalizing tidbits about upcoming content within the next two months. Though specifics are scarce for now, we can expect new cards and the implementation of one of the game’s most frequently demanded features.

Initially, our intention is to introduce new booster packs by the end of this year. Furthermore, we’re working towards implementing a trading feature for specific cards, starting from January 2025. Gradually, we aim to broaden the range of tradeable cards over time. This is outlined in our letter.

The capacity to swap trading cards is likely to bring joy to many enthusiasts. While it remains uncertain how this feature will pan out in real-world scenarios, we can hope that the ‘Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket’ draws inspiration from the main Pokemon series. It would be delightful if they incorporated a system similar to the Global Trade System, enabling players to deposit their Pokemon and specify what they seek in return. Regrettably, no additional information was disclosed, and the community letter seems to hint at restrictions on which cards can be traded initially.

Earlier this month, information from datamines hinted at the upcoming release of new booster packs on December 16th, aligning with the “end of the year” timeframe mentioned in the community letter. But, it’s uncertain if these new boosters before the end of 2024 will be connected to a new expansion set or if they’ll provide something smaller until we receive a larger release of new cards in January 29th.

The letter to the community ended by saying that the developers of Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket “have other new features in development outside of the trade feature.” It remains to be seen what else we’ll see, but hopefully there will be new and exciting options that keep the game feeling fresh. More than 30 million people have now downloaded Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, which is a very good sign for the future. Hopefully the game will get enough new content to keep us all playing for a long time to come.
