As a seasoned gamer with decades of post-apocalyptic survival games under my belt, the announcement of Atomfall by Rebellion Development has sent a shiver of anticipation down my spine. Having lived through the fallout of countless virtual nuclear disasters, I can’t help but feel a strange sense of déjà vu when faced with the desolate wasteland of Windham, post-Windscale fire disaster.
Rebellion Development has announced that their post-nuclear survival action game titled Atomfall will be released on March 27th, 2025, across various platforms including Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. The game will also be available for Game Pass subscribers to play from day one. You can watch the announcement trailer below for a sneak peek.
In the aftermath of the Windscale fire catastrophe, players assume the role of an unidentified character. They stumble upon a telephone booth and receive a puzzling call instructing them to eliminate Oberon, though they have the option to disregard this command in favor of exploration and resource gathering. Traverse the town, which is under the control of Protocol and its robots, or delve into the B.A.R.D. underground facilities for potential insights.
Beyond the town’s boundaries lie numerous dangers such as cult members wielding cricket bats and bows, along with mutants. You can collect hints to determine who is trustworthy (with multiple quests at your disposal). Alternatively, you could choose a different path and eliminate everyone. For further information about B.A.R.D. and the locations you’ll traverse in and around Windham, follow this link.
