After watching every riveting episode of Ellis on Channel 5, I must say, it has been a rollercoaster ride of suspense and intrigue that left me hooked till the very end. The performances by Sharon D Clarke as the smart and witty DCI Ellis and Andrew Gower as her loyal partner DS Harper were nothing short of exceptional.

Will there be an Ellis season 2?
As of now, Channel 5 has not announced a second season of Ellis.

When would a potential Ellis season 2 release?
Should Ellis be renewed for season 2, we’d expect new episodes to be on screens in late 2025.
The series underwent a quick transformation, as filming was completed earlier this year and wrapped up by May.
If the show is renewed in the near future, considering the time needed to write new episodes, we might anticipate a release date around the same time as Season 1’s next year.
What could happen in a potential Ellis season 2?
In each installment of Ellis, a fresh set of guest actors appear, along with a novel mystery that Ellis (Clarke) and Harper (Gower) work diligently to solve.

Clarke expressed her desire for the series to focus on “various rural towns scattered across England.” She went on to say: “Just like Andrew mentioned, urban cities offer a different type of drama. However, by exploring smaller towns, we can showcase more of England’s beauty as well.
In Manchester, and larger urban areas, you’ve established things nicely. It’s beneficial, though, to advocate for our smaller, rural towns too, giving people a broader perspective. This way, we not only stay connected with our roots but continue to evolve as well.
“Those towns play such a huge character to the piece,” Gower added.
In the concluding episode of Ellis’s first season, the duo are seen bonding tightly, toasting following a task successfully accomplished. Yet, there’s also a glimpse into Ellis’s private world.
Grace, her daughter, at last sends a message saying she’ll phone soon, implying there might be opportunities to delve deeper into Ellis’s familial background in future episodes if they materialize.
Who could star in a potential Ellis season 2?
Without Detective Ellis in his usual role, it wouldn’t feel quite right, would it? So, we can certainly expect both Sharon D Clarke and Andrew Gower to return to their leading roles as DCI Ellis and DS Harper once more.
