Following the weigh-in at 303 pounds by the star of “1000-Lb. Sisters” on October 15th’s episode of TLC, her physician Dr. Eric Smith suggested she might want to explore skin removal surgery as an option. Unfortunately, the woman, aged 38, has now encountered a hurdle in this process.
Dr. Brad Turner stated on TLC’s Instagram on November 14 that Tammy is not yet eligible for skin removal surgery at this time. This is because she has only been about 13 or 14 months post-weight loss surgery, and it would be more beneficial for her to continue losing weight over the next six months to a year, reach her target weight, and then they can discuss the procedure again with Tammy.
Meanwhile, the news proved disheartening for Tammy, who had undergone bariatric surgery in July 2022 and spent a lengthy 14 months at a weight loss rehabilitation center. However, her surgeon encouraged her not to give up on her hopes.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d be remiss if I didn’t emphasize the continued effectiveness of Dr. Smith’s methods. However, allow me to clarify, I’m not discouraging you today. Instead, I suggest we postpone diving into it until another day.
Even though Tammy was feeling irritated, there was still plenty for her to rejoice about given that she is a key cast member alongside her sister Amy Slaton and brother Chris Combs. This joy stemmed from the fact that she announced she had achieved another significant weight loss milestone, as she registered 281.2 pounds on the scale.
In the November 13 video posted on TLC’s Instagram, Tammy expressed that Chris stated he weighs 284 pounds. She found it astonishing when she mentioned that she currently weighs slightly less than Chris.
And Tammy also noted that it has been quite some time since she was this small.
She mentioned, “The last time I weighed around 281 pounds, I was in about fourth or fifth grade. Now, I’m no longer the youngest of all my sisters.
For his part, her brother Chris was eager to celebrate his sister’s success.
He expressed his joy over Tammy’s success in a season six clip, saying, ‘I’m thrilled beyond words!’ He added that he hadn’t envisioned the day she would be shorter than him, which was unexpected since he never considered her ever being smaller. She’s always been Tammy, and big at that.

On July 1st, Tammy expressed her grief over the passing of her husband, Caleb Willingham. She posted on Instagram, “Rest in peace, sweet angel. You will always be deeply missed and greatly loved.” She added, “Thank you, Caleb, for showing me genuine love and joy.” Alongside these heartfelt words, she shared old photos.
