Fantastic Four Honors Stan Lee With Out of This World Wrap Gifts

As a seasoned movie critic with a heart full of nostalgia and a mind steeped in the rich history of Marvel comics, I must say that the latest reveal for the upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps has left me utterly thrilled. The swag gift given to Ralph Ineson, who plays Galactus in this film, is a testament to the reverence with which Stan Lee’s legacy continues to be honored by Marvel Studios.

Marvel Studios honors the late, illustrious Stan Lee by presenting special gifts to the cast and crew of Fantastic Four: First Steps. On Twitter, leading man Ralph Ineson (portraying Galactus in the movie) posted a picture of himself sporting his unique merchandise – a shirt displaying an impressive spaceship launching among stars. Surrounding the image are the names of the Fantastic Four team members along with “excelsior,” Lee’s iconic phrase.

“Marvel do the coolest wrap gifts,” Ineson captioned his image. Check it out in the space below:

Titled “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” this upcoming movie is scheduled for release in July 2025. It will kick off Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Production started back in July. This film represents the debut of Marvel’s original family within the MCU. Ineson’s Galactus is slated to play a significant part; the synopsis, recently unveiled, hints that he and the Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner, will serve as the main adversaries. The Fantastic Four, portrayed by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, are tasked with defending Earth from these villains.

Stan Lee, who teamed up with Jack Kirby to introduce the Fantastic Four for Marvel Comics back in 1961, occasionally made appearances in live-action Fantastic Four films. He portrayed the Baxter Building mailman Willie Lumpkin in the 2005 movie and a spurned wedding guest in the 2007 release titled Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. However, he did not feature in the 2015 reboot of the Fantastic Four series.

Following Stan Lee’s passing, Marvel productions have chosen unique methods to commemorate him. For instance, subtle details like a “Excelsior” license plate in the series WandaVision or a taxi numbered 12-28 (his birthday being December 28th) in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In a more humorous manner, Deadpool and Wolverine paid tribute through an advertisement for “StanLee Steemer” on a bus, featuring an illustration of the legend. It’s clear that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and others hold immense respect and reverence for Lee, who brought numerous characters to life in the MCU. We’ll eagerly await if The Fantastic Four: First Steps will include any references to Lee.

Regarding this upcoming film, Marvel is under pressure as they aim to revitalize the Multiverse Saga. Previous Fantastic Four films didn’t fare well critically or commercially, but they’re hopeful that third time will prove lucky. The Fantastic Four are beloved Marvel characters with a long history, so fans are eager for a faithful adaptation – especially since they’ll be crucial in future Avengers stories.
