However, when it comes to its launch price of $699.99, I must say, it didn’t exactly win my heart at first sight, especially since the vertical stand and Blu-ray disc drive are sold separately, and finding that last one can be a challenge thanks to those pesky scalpers.

No Man’s Sky
No Man’s Sky by Hello Games appears impressive on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, but it truly transforms on the PS5 Pro. The enhanced version offers 4K/60 FPS due to PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution and supports 8K at 30 FPS as well. Whether you choose the standard or high-end modes, you’ll notice significantly improved ambient occlusion, reflections, and lighting quality. While it might not be a common choice, experiencing these enhancements in Virtual Reality on PlayStation VR2 is quite remarkable too.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
In various methods, numerous developers have utilized the PS5, but Insomniac Games has truly stood out by providing a wealth of customization options for frame rate, resolution, and ray tracing quality in their games. However, after numerous updates, the situation has significantly improved. The PS5 Pro version is noteworthy because it offers visual quality comparable to the PC version’s Ultra settings. In Performance Mode, the game utilizes PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution to scale up 1440p to 4K at 60 FPS. However, there may still be occasional stutters in some of the game’s bustling areas. Despite these minor hiccups, it’s a substantial improvement and one that hopefully will continue to improve over time.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered
Despite being widely popular, it’s clear that The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered looks exceptionally beautiful on the PS5 Pro. In Pro Mode, it renders at 1440p and upscales to 4K while aiming for a smooth 60 frames per second, which it generally maintains. Every detail within the game (and there are many) appears more captivating than ever before, with an astonishing level of clarity.
Gran Turismo 7
Gran Turismo 7 had raised anticipation ahead of the launch of the PS5 Pro with its 8K/60 FPS experimental mode. However, even though an update utilizes PSSR to provide impressive visuals at a smooth 60 frames per second, it’s been observed by Digital Foundry that the image clarity isn’t as sharp as on the regular PS5. On the upside, it takes advantage of more refined ray tracing reflections and cube maps. If you find this still not satisfactory, you can choose to keep the game unpatched and enjoy 4K/120 FPS performance directly on your console instead.
