Pokemon Go Wild Area Event: What Are Mighty Pokemon?

As a seasoned Pokemon Go player with countless hours under my belt, I must say, the upcoming Wild Area event has me absolutely buzzing! The prospect of encountering Mighty Pokemon is truly exciting, and the thought of capturing a Shiny Galvantula or Toxapex is enough to make any trainer’s heart race.

The upcoming global event for Pokemon Go‘s latest feature, the Wild Area, is set to occur later this month and promises some fresh, engaging content for players. During this event, players can anticipate coming across Mighty Pokemon, a novelty in the game. These Pokemon are characterized as being “extraordinarily powerful,” which signifies a higher probability of them having increased Attack, Defense, or HP, and they’re likely to be of larger sizes like XL or XXL. On the other hand, it seems that capturing these powerful creatures will prove to be more challenging.

The special event for Pokemon Go’s Wild Area is scheduled for November 23rd and 24th. During this event, the spotlight will alternate every hour between Electric or Poison-type Pokemon. For instance, during electric hours, you might encounter Voltorb and Joltik, while in poison hours, expect to see Bulbasaur and Tentacool. Throughout both days, Mighty Pokemon will randomly appear in the wild. Notable Mighty Pokemon on Saturday include Galvantula, Golem, Gyarados, Luxray, Pidgeot, Scolipede, Toxapex, and Tyrantrum. On Sunday, keep an eye out for Dragalge, Dragonite, Eelektross, Electivire, Feraligatr, Memoswine, Poliwrath, and Venusaur.

If players successfully catch these Special Pokémon, they’ll discover Unique Moves that normally can’t be obtained through Technical Machines. For instance, Venusaur learns Frenzy Plant, Pidgeot learns Gust, Poliwrath learns Counter, Gyarados learns Aqua Tail, Feraligatr learns Hydro Cannon, and Luxray learns Psychic Fangs. Players might discover these Pokémon in Shiny versions during this event, and those who purchase an event ticket (currently available for $11.99 in the Shop) will have a higher chance of finding Shiny Pokémon throughout the event. However, enjoying the Wild Area event doesn’t require purchasing a ticket, and there’s no increased likelihood of encountering Shiny Pokémon if you choose to spend money.

For the first time ever in “Pokemon Go”, players will get to use Safari Balls. Originally seen in “Pokemon Red” and “Green”, these balls were only used within the Safari Zone during that generation. During the Wild Area event in “Pokemon Go”, you can acquire Safari Balls through various means, such as completing Timed Research or by spinning PokeStops. This new type of Poke Ball is said to be extremely effective at catching powerful Pokemon like Mighty Pokemon, or any other creature you encounter. Just as in the Safari Zone, the Safari Balls will only last for a certain period; they’ll disappear from your inventory at 6:15 p.m. local time each day.
