Dragon Ball Daima Is Making Super Saiyan Cool Again

As a long-time Dragon Ball fan, I can confidently say that Dragon Ball Daima has breathed new life into the franchise and brought back the nostalgia we all crave. The series is not just riding on the coattails of its past successes but is actively working to make Super Saiyan cool again!

In honor of Dragon Ball’s 40th anniversary, fans have been introduced to a fresh perspective on the franchise through Dragon Ball Daima. This new anime is putting in significant effort to make the Super Saiyan transformation feel cool and exciting once more. Originally, Dragon Ball Daima was a newly created anime series released alongside the debut of Akira Toriyama’s original Dragon Ball manga, published by Shueisha in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Despite telling an entirely new story not previously explored in any other anime or manga releases, it aims to revisit the core elements that made Dragon Ball unique and special from the very beginning.

In the latest installment of “Dragon Ball Daima,” we’re embarking on a fresh journey through a magical world. Interestingly, our protagonist Goku is reverted back to his youthful self, reminiscent of the series’ early days, to stir up feelings of nostalgia. However, unlike before, “Dragon Ball Daima” isn’t just leaning on nostalgia; it’s using it as a foundation while introducing something new and original. This revamp offers a fresh take on the Super Saiyan transformation, giving it the grandeur it once had.

Super Saiyan Is Dragon Ball’s Top Form Again

As the Dragon Ball series progressed, the Super Saiyan transformation became less potent. After the Battle of Gods arc, the introduction of divine power essentially weakened what the Super Saiyan form represented. Instead of showcasing Goku’s pinnacle abilities, it was overshadowed by various iterations of the form. Super Saiyan was no longer the apex form that Goku aimed to perfect; it was relegated in favor of exploring divine power’s limits through techniques like Ultra Instinct and beyond. Goku used Super Saiyan primarily when holding back his strength.

In a noteworthy shift, Dragon Ball Daima has rejuvenated the significance of Super Saiyan transformation by making it demanding to achieve. The latest anime series has also revamped Goku’s character, turning him into a child, and requiring him to adapt to combat with his smaller physique once more. To add to the challenges, the Demon Realm is limiting his abilities, restricting his flying capabilities and movement speed compared to Earth. This means that Goku’s peak performance will undergo a transformation, and Super Saiyan will be instrumental in reaching that peak again.

Goku Has to Work for It

In Dragon Ball Daima Episode 6, we witnessed Goku striving for the Super Saiyan transformation while in his Mini form. Though he had briefly tapped into its power during the previous episode, it was merely a temporary energy surge from the form. It wasn’t until Episode 6 that Goku started gathering the required energy to summon this power and subsequently sealed himself within it permanently. Delighted by his ability to still attain the form in his new body, Goku may also be able to access higher stages with additional effort.

For the first time in quite a while, Super Saiyan became significantly crucial due to its unique transformation sequence. Goku had to gather energy and gradually undergo the process. It’s no longer a transformation that can be taken lightly, requiring both time and effort for Goku to master. Essentially, going back to the basics for Super Saiyan, it seems fitting when considering the chronology of Dragon Ball Daima within the larger Dragon Ball timeline. Moreover, Super Saiyan 3 is currently the peak he can attain, making this transformation all the more significant.

In the world of Dragon Ball Daima, I find myself six months to a year post the fierce battle against Majin Buu, with Beerus and Whis yet to grace Earth for the Battle of Gods arc. This means my Goku is still at Super Saiyan 3, his ultimate form so far. Every step towards regaining that power will be exhilarating. This is a Goku who hasn’t experienced the might of Gogeta, a Goku untouched by godly power, and a Goku who’s stretching Super Saiyan to its breaking point, even in this new Mini form. It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen him in action like this, and I can’t wait to witness the chaos!
