This article includes discussion of pregnancy loss and endometriosis which some readers may find upsetting.

In the newest episode of EastEnders, it emerged that Ruby Allen’s (Louisa Lytton) hidden past was disclosed, causing Martin Fowler (James Bye) to experience a whirlwind of feelings.

Two years ago, Ruby gave birth to her son. This news left Martin in shock. When he unexpectedly showed up at Stacey Slater’s home to argue with him about a missing birth certificate, Martin was still grappling with the aftermath of this revelation.

In the document, the child was labeled as Roman. However, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) asserted that she, not Martin, had handled the paperwork. She sought confirmation on this matter from Ruby.

When Ruby mentioned to Martin that she’d shared her pregnancy news with him the very day of her arrest, Martin countered by saying that with all the lies she’d spun, it was tough to distinguish truth from fiction.

I’ll share a personal account about my relationship with Martin and our child: We indeed welcomed a son together, but afterwards, I found myself without legal custody. After spending three precious months in a mother-baby facility, our separation occurred when I exited prison. Ultimately, I made the difficult decision to place our little boy up for adoption.

Martin found it hard to comprehend that Ruby decided not to raise the child following her difficulties with endometriosis and multiple miscarriages, leaving him astounded.

Ruby portrayed herself as a person who had failed, followed by her assertion that Martin wasn’t a good father. Consequently, it was likely best for the child to be away from both of them.

At the café, Martin found some comfort, but then he experienced an emotional outburst. Later, his cousin Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and good friend Zack Hudson (James Farrar) attempted to provide him with comfort and support.

In response to suggestions from people such as Peter Beale (Thomas Law), Martin was encouraged to look for his son. Meanwhile, Stacey and Ruby had a heated argument which ended with Ruby departing in a cab.

Martin went back to talk with Stacey, who firmly believed that Ruby was behaving suspiciously. She proposed that he should inquire about her whereabouts from the proprietor of the cab office, Kat Slater, played by Jessie Wallace.

Soon, Martin and Stacey arrived at the hospital, where they saw Ruby heading to a children’s ward.

Upon seeing Ruby gently pressing a kiss on the peaceful forehead of a young lad, who appeared to be asleep, Martin suddenly understood – this child was none other than their son, Roman. What reaction might follow?

As a fellow movie-goer who has been deeply moved by Ruby’s heartrending tale, I would like to share some resources that may offer solace and support for those who can relate to her journey.
