Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Confirms Its Directors (Get Excited for Episode 4)

As a lifelong Star Wars fan who grew up watching the original trilogy, the news about the new series, Skeleton Crew, has me absolutely giddy with excitement! The lineup of directors for this show is nothing short of stellar – from Jon Watts to David Lowery, the Daniels, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung. It’s like a who’s-who of talented filmmakers that have been on my radar for years!

A fresh Star Wars series is being prepared for streaming on Disney+, with Jon Watts, director of the recent Spider-Man trilogy, taking the helm. Watts is not only one of the lead writers and executive producers for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, but he will also direct the first and final episodes of the initial season. An impressive array of well-known directors, guaranteed to excite fans, will be joining Watts in the director’s chair.

It has been confirmed that Disney and Lucasfilm have finalized the director lineup for the debut season of “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew”. Notably, Watts will kick off and conclude the season with a bang, but what’s intriguing is the presence of even more prominent directors associated with this upcoming series.

David Lowery, responsible for “The Green Knight” and “Peter Pan & Wendy,” is directing episodes 2 and 3 in the series. Notably, episode 4 will be guided by the esteemed directorial team Daniels, who are renowned for their work on the 2022 Best Picture winner, “Everything Everywhere All at Once.

In Episode 5 of “Skeleton Crew”, Jake Schreier, known for six episodes of Netflix’s “Beef” and Marvel’s upcoming “Thunderbolts”, is in charge. The next episode, number 6, is directed by Bryce Dallas Howard, a frequent director for Star Wars TV series who has created some outstanding episodes of “The Mandalorian”. Lastly, Episode 7 is being handled by Lee Isaac Chung, a talented filmmaker who was nominated for an Oscar for writing and directing the 2020 movie “Minari” and later directed the successful blockbuster “Twisters”.

Among all the director lineups that Disney+ and Lucasfilm have put together so far, this one is undeniably the most awe-inspiring. After all, we’re talking about some truly exceptional talent, as evidenced by the directors who have worked on The Mandalorian in the past.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share that unlike other Star Wars adventures, the upcoming project, Skeleton Crew, focuses on the lives and journeys of kids within the galaxy far, far away. It’s not a kiddie show, but its narrative promises to resonate with everyone, regardless of age.

In a recent interview with ComicBook, Lowery shared that the show caters to children, but it’s not just for them. He recollected his childhood ambition to become Luke Skywalker and Han Solo from Star Wars, emphasizing that he didn’t need a kids’ show to love Star Wars. However, he believes this new show will evoke the same nostalgic feeling in adults like himself, reminding us of the excitement we felt watching Star Wars for the first time as kids.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will premiere December 3rd on Disney+.
