Control Update Coming in Early 2025, Unlocks “Previously Released Content”

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation upon hearing about the upcoming updates for Control and Alan Wake 2. The first game was a masterpiece that left me craving more, and the second one sounds like it could be just as intriguing.

Although Control 2 is still some time away, starting full production in 2025, the initial game from the series will receive an update. As shared during Remedy’s Capital Markets Day, this update will become available in early 2025 and make accessible content that has already been released.

The nature of the content is yet unclear, but it might connect with the events following Alan Wake 2: The Lake House. A player has noticed that a key character (beware of spoilers if you haven’t played Control) mysteriously vanished. It’s possible this could be related to the upcoming update, however, whether it brings substantial gameplay changes or serves as another hint for the sequel is still unknown.

The game titled “Control” is accessible on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. You can find our review of the game here. Since its launch in 2019, it has sold more than 4.5 million units. As for the sequel, “Control 2”, it is planned to release on current-generation platforms and PC. However, a specific release date has not been announced yet. Remedy Entertainment confirmed that it will be an action role-playing game.
