Marco Nobili, Paramount Plus’s executive vice president and international general manager, expressed his enthusiasm: “We’re thrilled to extend our successful multi-tier approach, which accounts for almost half of our direct-to-consumer sign-ups in Canada and Australia from non-standard plans, to the UK and Ireland. This means we will offer both premium and ad-supported subscription options.

Giving options to our subscribers is vital for the expansion of Paramount Plus, and this becomes even more important as there’s a growing interest in ad-supported plans throughout Europe.

Lee Sears, president of international markets advertising sales at Paramount, stated: “By introducing an ad-tier plan in the UK and Ireland, we are creating a vast opportunity for advertisers. This allows them to interact with our global franchises, series, and films via our digital platform EyeQ.

Through this expansion, the international advertising team at Paramount will be able to showcase a broader variety of products. It also offers them a unified and effective platform to execute powerful ad campaigns.

Paramount Plus doesn’t stand alone as the initial streaming service to provide an ad-inclusive plan. Services such as Netflix and Disney Plus have previously introduced similar plans, which occasionally intersperse commercials among your content in order to reduce costs for viewers.

This newly launched streaming platform, introduced in the U.S. during 2021, gathers hit movies, TV shows, and kid’s content from multiple American television networks and film companies such as Nickelodeon, Showtime, Comedy Central, MTV, CBS, and Paramount Pictures.

Notable mentions span across various universes, like those of Star Trek, the acclaimed Yellowstone series by Taylor Sheridan, along with kid-friendly franchises such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Paw Patrol, and Rugrats.

Furthermore, similar to Netflix, Paramount is also venturing into producing original content, including shows like 1923, The First Lady, Mayor of Kingstown, and Special Ops: Lioness.

On November 20th, 2024, Paramount Plus introduces two fresh subscription options in the United Kingdom and Ireland – a standard plan featuring advertisements and an ad-free premium option.

The basic (with ads) tier is priced at £4.99 per month in the UK and €5.99 per month in Ireland.

In the United Kingdom, the monthly cost for the standard plan will increase from £6.99 to £7.99. Meanwhile, in Ireland, the price will change to €8.99 per month.
