Verity Casts Anne Hathaway in Movie Adaptation of Colleen Hoover Book

As a lover of literature and a connoisseur of the silver screen, I find myself utterly enthralled by this tantalizing tapestry of tales! From the moors of Wuthering Heights to the far-flung reaches of Tau Ceti, these stories transport us to realms both familiar and fantastical.

Anne Hathaway is entering the CoHo cinematic universe.

In an Instagram post on November 20, the author confirmed that the actress from “The Princess Diaries” has been chosen for the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover‘s thrilling book “Verity”. The movie will be directed by Michael Showalter, who was also responsible for Hathaway in another book-to-film transformation, scheduled for 2024: “The Idea of You”.

In various sources, it’s been reported that this time, Hathaway has been cast as the fictional character, Verity Crawford, in an upcoming movie produced by Amazon MGM Studios.

When Verity, known for her popular villain series, is unable to complete it after a puzzling incident, Jeremy Crawford, her husband, engages emerging author Lowen Ashleigh to pen the remaining installments. However, while studying the novels, Lowen stumbles upon various family secrets of Verity that cause her to doubt what’s true.

Additional castings—including for the characters of Lowen and Jeremy—have not been revealed.

Apart from Hathaway and Showalter, the Verity team also has Nick Antosca, a creative with extensive experience in suspense genres. He is known for scripting shows like The Act, featuring Joey King as Gypsy Rose Blanchard, and Candy, where Jessica Biel plays Candy Montgomery.

And no one is more thrilled than Hoover herself.

The author shared on Instagram that Verity will be hitting the big screen, and they’re thrilled about the talented cast, captivating script, skillful director, and the entire crew making it happen. Can’t wait for more updates!

It’s not the first instance where one of Hoover’s books is being transformed for the silver screen. In fact, earlier this year, the adaptation of her 2016 novel, “It Ends With Us,” starring Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, hit the screens. This story revolves around Lily Bloom (played by Lively), a florist who finds herself in a turbulent relationship with neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Baldoni).

Hoover revealed on Instagram before the premiere of It Ends With Us, “I began writing this book a full decade ago. Over these past ten years, much has changed. However, the consistent support from each one of you remains unwavering. Yes, the literary world can be louder and more chaotic now, but it is also brimming with love, good intentions, cheerleaders, and some of the best friends I’ve ever known. Today, as I see how you all have shown up, I am truly astounded. WOW!

The person aged 44 said, ‘This book has been meticulously handled by numerous actors and filmmakers who have put in a great deal of effort to serve everyone well.’
